Description

The Hormann 2001 Vertical is a vertically ribbed steel garage door design which has proven very popular in recent years. It's straightforward simplistic design allows it to blend in easily with most surroundings whilst continuing to offer an elegant level of style.

The door has a timeless design to blend in with most properties. The vertical ribbed design is visually the same at all sizes offering subtle elegance in the standard white finish or any of the optional powdercoat colours. The door panel is galvanised steel both sides and factory pre-finished using a powdercoat process that requires no further painting.

Application

Domestic garage door for use on garages up to 5000mm wide x 2375mm high structural opening and 2750mm high with maximum width of 3000mm. Available with canopy type mechanism up to 2438mm (8'0") wide x 2134mm (7'0") high and retractable mechanism only over 2438mm (8'0") wide or over 2134mm (7'0") high. These one piece up and over doors are available with an optional galvanised steel box section fixing frame for installation directly to the surrounding structural opening – in between or behind but can be fitted to suitable timber fixing frames if required.

Specification

Hormann Steel Up and Over Canopy doors have a single torsion spring shaft fixed to the head frame with cable and rollers running in vertical tracks on the inside frame legs.

Spring and vertical tracks incorporate spring and cable break safety
system conforming to BS EN 12604. Canopy Door mechanism gives the maximum drive-through width when open and is the easiest to install.

The door is balanced and assisted by torsion springs positioned above the door panel on the head of the fixing frame.

Hormann Steel Up and Over Retractable doors have a multiple spring safety system with tight coils to eliminate the risk of fingers being trapped and conform to BS EN 12604.

Retractable Plus doors are the same as retractable doors but with an increased clear drive through height.

Retractable Plus Gear is not available for doors over 7'6" wide.

Retractable doors are ideal for automation.

The drive-through width on a retractable mechanism is reduced as the lifting arms sit in between the fixing frame when the door is opened, be careful when limited for width that you do not restrict access too much.

Choice of powder-coated colour options:
Traffic white RAL 9016
Terra brown RAL 8028
Light Blue RAL 5005
Steel Blue RAL 5011
Red RAL 3003
Green RAL 6005
Black RAL 9005

The Steel Frame is powder-coated in the same colour as the door.

Please Note: Colours are only available in the following sizes:
7066, 7070, 7566, 7570, 7666, 7670 and 8066, 8070
Please enquire for more details.

Fittings and locking (Standard Black Nylon handle set):
Round plastic handle on the outside, plastic ‘rotary disc’ on the inside. Special lock with multi-point locking, with profile half cylinder and release button on the inside, 2-point locking by automatic UPVC-latch (adjustable) 4-point locking option is also available for increased security.

Standard Specification
Single doors pre-assembled UPVC rollers and UPVC bushes in all door bearings, buffer stop.

Delivery
Single doors come pre-assembled, 1 unit. Lock pack is attached to the back of the door.

The mechanism can take much heavier loads with tension springs at the sides easily increased in size and strength.

Automating a canopy type up and over garage door will require the use of a bow arm converter if installing with a traditional boom type operator.

A retractable up and over door is always preferable on larger width garage doors, if the option is available, as a bow arm is then not necessary.

Installation

Full installation details are provided with the door as well as various components for installing the optional steel fixing frame if ordered. Steel brackets and screws are provided for the fixing frame or timber screws for a timber fixing frame installation - you will only need fixings for installing the steel brackets to your structural opening. All Hormann garage doors are delivered with your chosen operating mechanism factory installed to the door panel and the only item to fix after installing the door is the handle set supplied separately with the door. The spring is already tensioned on the canopy doors and released by removing a transit screw once the door is installed.

Installation Positions
Hormann up and over garage doors with fixing frames can be installed either inbetween or behind the structural garage opening but not in front! The installation position is usually dependant on sizing restrictions or the finish and depth of the garage piers, although aesthetics quite often is a major factor. A garage door fitted onto the inside face of an opening can be wider and higher than a door fitted inbetween the same size opening. If you are not sure please call or email us, it could mean the difference between getting your vehicle into the garage or not!

Warranty

Hörmann products are manufactured to the highest quality standards and leave our factory only after rigorous quality testing. However, if you should have grounds for complaint, this section tells you what our door warranty offers, and how to go about making your claim.
In the unlikely event of a warranty claim becoming necessary, please contact the dealer or distributor who originally supplied your garage door. Your dealer should then supply details of the claim, together with a copy of the warranty card provided with the door and proof of purchase to the Product Services Department at Hörmann (UK) Ltd. To enable your claim under warranty to be processed as quickly as possible, you should provide the following details:
1 Your name, address and telephone number
2 Original invoice with date of purchase
3 Product description/door type and product number
4 Description of defect
An assessment of the claim will then be made. This may require Hörmann to inspect the product in-situ. In the event that there is no legitimate warranty claim under the terms specified herein, you may be liable for the costs of the inspection visit. We strongly recommend that you take note of the care and usage instructions displayed on the stickers on the back of your garage door, and on the page opposite, and that you follow these instructions throughout.

User Information/Care
Finish - Steel Doors
The coating process applied to the door and chassis is environmentally friendly. Minor scratches or marks are not covered under the conditions of our warranty and should be repaired immediately to prevent corrosion and deterioration of the panel. Corrosive substances such as acids, alkalines, and salts, etc. should be cleaned from the door immediately; failure to do so will result in deterioration of the finish, which will not be covered under our warranty. Should deterioration of the finish start to occur you will need to repaint your door immediately. Prepare the surface lightly with wet and dry. Then treat with solvent based 2 pack epoxy wash primer and a normal commercial paint (cellulose paint must not be used). Hörmann steel doors are a finished product. They do not require re-painting on site. They are however not immune to damage, which can occur at any stage of the handling of the product from factory to site.
Finish - Timber Doors
Timber panels are coated with a neutralising base-stain. Doors must be stored upright, under cover, with wrapping intact, until wrapping is removed. As soon as the door is unwrapped, one coat of a good quality basecoat primer must be applied to both sides of the door. Immediately after installation, your timber doors require a further two coats of a good quality exterior wood finish on both sides. Initial application and periodic treatment should be carried out strictly in accordance with the woodstain manufacturer's instructions. Failure to follow these instructions will result in early deterioration of the timber panel.
Finish - GRP Doors
GRP door panels should periodically washed down using water. This should be done more frequently if fitted near the sea. Bird droppings will bleach the finish on GRP. and should be removed using water as soon as possible. GRP doors should not be painted over.
Paint Finish - Steel Doors
Minor surface damage can easily be repaired using touch up sprays or sticks without invalidating warranties.
