SeceuroShield 77 Electric | Insulated Security Shutter & Roller Door

The SeceuroShield 77 is one of the most versatile electrically operated shutters in our range, designed to function equally well as a high-security window shutter or a robust roller door. Using the renowned 77mm double-skinned insulated aluminium slat, it provides a formidable physical barrier while delivering significant thermal and acoustic benefits.

Whether you need to secure a large commercial shopfront, a domestic patio door, or a garage opening, the SeceuroShield 77 offers a "made-to-measure" solution that combines strength, style, and insulation in one package.

Dual-Purpose Design: Security & Insulation

Unlike standard single-skin shutters, the SeceuroShield 77 uses a CFC-free foam-filled aluminium profile. This construction offers two key advantages:

  • Thermal & Acoustic Insulation: The foam core helps to reduce heat loss and dampen external noise, making it an excellent choice for residential properties or commercial buildings where energy efficiency is a priority.
  • Roller Door Capability: Because it uses the same high-strength 77mm slat found on premium roller garage doors, this product is perfectly suited for use as a primary access door for garages, workshops, and storage units, as well as a security shutter for windows and doorways.

Electric Operation & Control

Every SeceuroShield 77 is electrically driven as standard, ensuring smooth and effortless operation regardless of size.

  • Motor Specification: Powered by a reliable 240V tubular motor housed within the axle. Rated for up to 20 operations per day, it is ideal for the typical usage patterns of most domestic and commercial applications.
  • Control Options: The system is highly adaptable. Choose from simple hard-wired rocker switches, wireless remote controls, or integrate it with smart home systems for ultimate convenience.
  • Safety: For roller door applications or where remote control is used, appropriate safety detection systems (such as safety edges or photocells) can be added to comply with regulations.

Versatile Installation & Size Range

Engineered to suit a wide variety of openings, the SeceuroShield 77 is custom-built to the millimetre.

  • Size Range: Capable of spanning widths up to 5400mm and heights up to 4000mm, making it suitable for everything from single doorways to large double garages or shop fronts.
  • Flexible Fitting: Can be installed internally (face fix or reveal) or externally. A full hood cover (box) is supplied as standard to protect the curtain and mechanism from the elements when installed outside.
  • Vision Options: For retail environments requiring partial visibility, the curtain can be mixed with SeceuroVision 800 see-through slats.

Extensive Colour Choice

The SeceuroShield 77 offers one of the largest standard colour palettes in the industry. The slats are finished on both sides, ensuring a consistent and attractive appearance whether viewed from inside or out.

Application

The SeceuroShield 77 Electric is arguably the most versatile product in our range. By utilising the same high-specification slat found in premium roller garage doors, it uniquely bridges the gap between a security shutter and a functional access door.

Whether you need thermal insulation, acoustic dampening, or robust physical security, the SeceuroShield 77 adapts to the application simply by changing the control method.

Roller Garage Doors & Vehicle Access

Because it uses the robust 77mm insulated slat, this shutter effectively doubles as a made-to-measure roller garage door.

  • Domestic Garages: Ideal for homeowners who want a security product that matches their home's aesthetic. The 23 standard colours allow for perfect coordination with window frames and front doors.
  • Workshops & Storage Units: Provides a wide, clear drive-through width (up to 5400mm) with the benefit of thermal insulation to keep workshops warmer in winter.
  • Commercial Vans/Loading: Suitable for light commercial openings where vans need secure overnight parking.

Commercial & Retail Security

For businesses, the SeceuroShield 77 offers a "medium security" rating suitable for most high street and office applications.

  • Shopfronts: The ability to mix the solid curtain with SeceuroVision 800 slats allows retailers to secure their premises while still allowing potential customers to view window displays after hours.
  • Office Entrances: The electric operation and smart control options make it easy for staff to secure the building at the touch of a button.
  • Insulation: Retail units with large glass frontages benefit significantly from the thermal barrier, reducing heating bills and preventing condensation.

Internal Dividers & Partitions

The finished appearance of the slat on both sides makes it an excellent choice for internal use.

  • Room Dividers: Used in community halls, schools, or large offices to partition spaces temporarily. The insulated core helps dampen sound transfer between the divided areas.
  • Serveries & Kitchens: Provides a clean, wipe-able, and secure barrier for school canteens or commercial kitchens.

Control Adaptability

The "dual personality" of this product is unlocked by your choice of control:

  • For Security Shutters: Use a simple "Hold-to-Run" rocker switch or key switch for secure, verified closing.
  • For Garage/Access Doors: Upgrade to remote control fobs or Somfy smart home apps for convenient everyday access from your vehicle. (Note: Safety sensors are required for remote operation).

Installation

The SeceuroShield 77 is a substantial shutter system designed for larger openings. Due to the weight of the insulated curtain (approx. 5kg/m²) and the size of the components, installation should be carried out by a competent person or professional installer. The system is typically installed as a "Built-On" unit, where the box and guides are fixed to the face or reveal of the opening structure.

1. Pre-Installation Checks

  • Check Components: Ensure you have the shutter box, guide rails, curtain (often supplied in sections for larger sizes), and the accessories box containing fixings and control equipment.
  • Verify Opening: Measure the opening width and height to confirm they match the order. The fixing surface (brickwork, steel, or timber) must be flat and structurally sound to take the weight of the shutter.
  • Cable Route: Identify where the power cable will exit the box (Left or Right hand) and ensure you have a suitable power supply (13 amp fused spur) nearby.

2. Fixing the Guide Rails & Box

  • Prepare Guides: Drill fixing holes in the guide rails. For the 77mm system, we recommend 7mm pilot holes enlarged to 13mm on the front face to accept plastic cover caps. Fixings should be spaced approx. 100mm from each end and then at 600mm-800mm intervals.
  • Assemble Frame: Slide the guide rails onto the box end plate lugs.
  • Positioning: Lift the assembled frame (box + guides) against the opening. Use a spirit level to ensure the guides are perfectly vertical and the box is level. This is critical for smooth operation.
  • Fixing: Secure the guide rails to the wall first. Then, ensure the box is secure; for widths over 2000mm, extra fixings through the back of the box head are required to prevent sagging.

3. Curtain Installation & Motor Setup

  • Motor Limit Setting (Initial): Before attaching the curtain, wire the motor to a test lead. Run the motor in the "down" direction until it stops (lower limit), then run it "up" slightly to position the attachment points correctly.
  • Loading the Curtain:
    • Protect the curtain finish by covering the axle/box edge.
    • Feed the curtain over the top of the axle and down into the guide rails.
    • For larger shutters, the curtain may be supplied in segments that slide together.
  • Attachment: Secure the top of the curtain to the axle using the provided locking straps or suspension springs.
  • Final Limit Adjustment: Run the shutter up and down, adjusting the mechanical or digital limits on the motor head until the shutter stops perfectly at the top (fully open) and bottom (fully compressed seal).

4. Electrical Connection & Commissioning

  • Wiring: Connect the motor cable to your chosen control device (rocker switch, remote receiver, or smart hub) following the wiring diagram provided.
  • Safety Devices: If using remote controls, install and test the safety edge or photocells to ensure the shutter stops/reverses if an obstruction is detected.
  • Final Check: Operate the shutter several times to ensure it runs smoothly without snagging. Check the auto-locks (if fitted) engage correctly when closed.

5. Finishing Touches

  • Sealing: Apply a high-quality silicone sealant around the perimeter of the box and guides to prevent water ingress.
  • Cover Caps: Fit the plastic caps over the guide rail fixing holes for a neat finish.
  • Handover: Demonstrate the operation (and manual override if fitted) to the end user and provide the maintenance instructions.
