Steel door sets are becoming the normal process in the UK nowadays for procurement of new and replacement doors for domestic and commercial applications. Simply for compliance and certification a complete door set has to be used, a complete unit of a door panel, sub frame and relevant hardware to form a complete, tested and certified door to use in its relevant application.
Every door has a purpose and that purpose might well require certified proof it is compliant and can achieve the purpose. Whether that be for fire protection, security, emergency exit, acoustic protection, smoke resistance, and so on, it is imperative the door has been tested and manufactured to the exact same standards as the original tested specification and the only way to achieve this is to manufacture the entire product as one finished doorset.
Our wide will surprise most people who imagine a steel door as some sort of industrial looking, unsightly, backstreet product. The truth is so far away from this mage in that steel is perhaps the best material for a door in the 21st century. Manufacturing processes and modern colour and laminate finishes now mean you would never believe are steel at all. The size range is immense, the strength is obvious, and all steel doors are double skinned ranging from 45 to around 65mm thick generally. The security is the very best when they are specified correctly and their performance ratings can be immense to provide the very best for any commercial, industrial or even domestic building.
Security Steel Doorsets
One of the biggest features is the security levels they offer. Even as standard general purpose doorsets they are extremely robust and secure. Manufacture the doorset with tested third party certification goals in mind and they can become extremely secure. We offer doors certified with PAS24, LPS1175, Secured by Design, and European RC ratings available. The LPS 1175 ratings are from SR1 through to SR4.
Using the word ‘security’ doesn’t make any door secure in reality, it is overused in marketing. The real test is with compliance and certification from third party testing. Don’t get caught out and buy a ‘security’ steel door only to find out it has very little security at all. Get proof of its performance every time.
EI Fire Certified Doorsets
The biggest change in the UL is a revamp on the performance of fire doors. It is really obvious that a door built to protect from fire should also protect from the heat from the fire as well and not glow cherry red after 20 minutes on the protected side.. EI certified steel doors are insulated and fire rated to protect from flames. No heat and no flames. That is the door you would want protecting your building in the event of a fire.
Insulated Doorsets
External steel doors for your premises would be best insulated AND secure, right? What about emergency exit capability too? That is just hardware in reality. All this is possible and it is relatively simple to have multi purpose steel doorsets to offer greater performance for your building, especially when it is an external door.
Most are made to measure for the perfect fit at no extra cost. The doors can be built to so many specifications to suit you and the building requirements and we provide drawings and exact specifications before you sign off for manufacturing.
You should consider steel doors for almost any application where a pedestrian door is required, internal or external. The longevity, durability, security and various other benefits are obvious to us, but maybe not to anyone who has never used one before, in any application. Why would you ever have a timber door for protection from fire for example? It makes no sense.
