Description

The Seceurobar removable window bar system uses tough powdercoated round steel bars which are locked in place on the inside of windows, in either vertical or horizontal format. Strong extruded aluminium retaining units secure each bar, yet the unique locking system means that they can be released in seconds for access to clean or simply have the window without the bars. You can remove one, several or all the bars as required and what is left is secured by the key lock again.

Each bar rotates in its individual position so any attempts to cut the bars uisng a hack saw or similar will not be successful.
The main fixings are into the top and bottom steel retaining sections and for measuring simply take the smallest height and deduct a small tolerance of 5-10mm which then gives you the ordering height. The width is pretty much the same, taking the smallest width measured and taking a small tolerance off for fitting and then you have the ordering width.

Each bar is prefinished in RAL 9016 white in a tough and special paint finish with a satin finish. Other colours are available on request.

Application

Ideal for low/medium security domestic or commercial applications where removal of the security device is required occasionally.

Specification

The removable window bars are operated by a single radial lock point. The key must always be pressed in before any key rotation is possible.

The SeceuroShield bars are powdercoated in Semi-gloss White RAL 9016 as standard with a choice of powdercoated colour options at extra cost.

Fitting Positions

If the reveal construction is solid steel or a cavity then it would be better to face fix the system around the opening.

You must check that the reveal is straight and level, any deflection of the bottom retaining unit will cause the mechanism to stick. Packing strips can be used to make the reveal level.

If the reveal slopes inwards or outwards, or the top retaining unit is not fitted directly above the bottom retaining unit, the sockets will not lock in the slider mechanism. The reveal should be levelled up with packing strips and re-measured.

When measuring for window bars which are fitted horizontally you must provide the width and height as shown in the diagram. The maximum width for a window bar fitted horizontally is 2000mm. When mounting the bars horizontally the lock must always be on the left looking from the inside out.

Face Fix and Horizontal Operation

The system can be supplied (at additional cost) with pre powdercoated 50mm x 50mm aluminium packers to face fix it to any wall. When mounting the bars horizontally the lock must always be fixed on the left hand side looking from inside out.

Installation

Installing A SeceuroBar

With a SeceuroBar, the system is manufactured to fit as close as possible to the window frame; this will avoid any unnecessary gaps for dust, dirt etc. to collect in. The top and bottom retaining units should be placed up by the window and the fixing positions marked with a pencil. The retaining unit can then be removed and create space to drill the appropriate hole. We recommend that the minimum fitting is 10 x 2" (50mm) countersunk wood screws. It is very important that countersunk screws are used; these will allow greater clearance in the top retaining unit. It is usually necessary to create a small recess directly below the lock position and to allow the bottom fitment to seat correctly. For wider or horizontal applications, the fixing plates can be secured within the retaining unit by using maskin tape or a small amount of silicone sealer (this will eliminate fixing plate movement). Before finally tightening the top and bottom retaining units the end caps should be moved out to the end of the opening, this will provide a neat and even finish to the system.

When bars are fitted vertically:

Minimum reveal width: 250mm
Maximum reveal width: 3000mm
(greater if multiple units are used)
Minimum reveal height: 200mm
Maximum reveal height: 2100mm
Maximum reveal height without spreader bars: 1500mm

When bars are fitted horizontally:

Minimum reveal width: 200mm
Maximum reveal width: 2000mm
Maximum reveal height without spreader bars: 150mm
(greater if multiple units are used)
Minimum reveal height: 250mm
Maximum reveal height: 2000mm
Warranty

All SeceuroShield products are guaranteed against defect of material or workmanship by SWS UK, subject to correct installation, maintenance and operation, for a period of 2 years from the date of purchase.

Measure

MEASURING

For installing these security bars into a window aperture then simply take several measurements for the width and height in the position you are going to fit the bars and then take the smallest measurements and deduct a small tolerance as necessary, this will give you your ordering dimensions for the bars.
When measuring, it is important that the dimension of the width (shown in the picture) is given first, before the dimension of the height to avoid any confusion. You must ensure that tight reveal sizes (in particular the height) are given when ordering. Failure to do this could result in the bars being cut too short and the level of security being offered is compromised.

If the height of the SeceuroBar you require exceeds 1500mm, it will require two rows of spreader bars. Spreader bars are used to reduce the deflection on taller applications and ease removal of bars.

It is worth clarifying that the SeceuroBar is an internal ONLY product and should under no circumstances be installed on the exterior of a building.
