SeceuroGuard 1000 Security Grille - Multiple Application Use
The SeceuroGuard 1000 retractable security grille is a premium, high quality collapsible steel barrier, custom built to measure for highly effective yet discreet door and window security. Designed primarily for internal installation, it is the ideal physical security solution for window recesses, patio doors, and commercial shopfronts that require robust protection without sacrificing natural light or visibility.
This is a generic application offering for any door, window or aperture up to a massive 6000mm width and 3500mm height.
We can offer this security grille in larger sizes - please email or call if this is a requirement.
The Seceuroguard 1000 collapsible grille is a phyiscal security product Samson Doors have sold for over 30 years now with the first sales made around 1995. It is a robust, simple design concept, copied by other over time but never matched in the quality and specifciation in its basic format..
Flexible, Unobtrusive Design
Unlike fixed burglar bars, the SeceuroGuard 1000 is a fully retractable system. During the day, the grille can be neatly pushed back and hidden behind curtains or blinds, returning your home or storefront to its normal appearance. The gate lattice is available in either the traditional diamond 'X' pattern or the softer, curved 'S' lattice design, both offered at the exact same price to suit your architectural style.
For doorways or tight spaces, the grille is available in single-sash (bunching to one side) or double-sash (parting in the middle) configurations. Depending on your size requirements, you can also specify a 'hinged aside' option, allowing the bunched grille to pivot 90 degrees flat against the wall, completely clearing the opening for maximum walk through space.
Custom Finishes to Match Your Property
Security doesn't have to be an eyesore. The SeceuroGuard grille is available in 122 standard powder coated colours, ensuring it perfectly coordinates with your existing window frames or interior decor. If you require a highly specific match, bespoke RAL colours can be ordered upon request.

Installation Guidance for Self-Installers: SeceuroGuard Grilles
Installing a SeceuroGuard retractable security grille is a straightforward process for competent DIYers and tradespeople. However, the smooth operation and ultimate security of the grille depend entirely on the framework being installed perfectly square, plumb, and level.
1. Pre-Installation Size Check
Before beginning, unpack the grille and verify the dimensions against your opening. The SeceuroGuard grille is always ordered with the Overall Width and Overall Height, which includes the entire surrounding framework and the bunched sash.
If you are carrying out a face fit installation (fitting to the wall surface rather than inside the recess), ensure you have correctly accounted for the added sizes for the side posts, top and bottom tracks, and any necessary reinforcement sections before drilling.

2. Preparing the Opening
- Clear the installation area of any obstructions, such as skirting boards, coving, or protruding window handles.
- Check the structural substrate. You must use the correct fixings for your specific wall type (e.g., heavy-duty masonry anchors for brick/concrete, or specialized fixings for steel/timber). Note: Fixings are not typically supplied, as the required type depends entirely on your building material.
3. Positioning and Fixing the Framework
- Assemble the Frame: Depending on the size of the grille, the tracks and side posts may need to be offered up to the opening together.
- Level and Plumb: Use a high-quality spirit level to ensure the top track is perfectly horizontal and the side posts are perfectly vertical (plumb). If your structural opening is uneven, use suitable packing shims behind the tracks to ensure the grille frame remains completely square. Do not bend the tracks to follow an uneven wall, as this will cause the sliding mechanism to jam.
- Secure the Fixings: Drill and secure the framework into the substrate. Fixings should generally be spaced no more than 400mm apart, ensuring there are strong fixing points close to the corners and directly behind the locking keep.
4. Testing and Commissioning
- Once the frame is securely fixed, slowly slide the grille curtain back and forth. It should run smoothly along the top and bottom tracks without catching or requiring excessive force.
- Test the locking mechanism. The lock should engage smoothly into the receiving post without needing to be forced. If the lock is stiff, double-check that your side posts are perfectly parallel.
- Wipe the bottom track completely clean of any brick dust, swarf, or debris created during drilling, as this is the most common cause of rough operation.
Important Note for SeceuroGuard 1001 (Insurance Approved): If you are installing the LPS 1175 SR1 rated model, it must be installed strictly following the manufacturer's specific fastening guidelines and using the appropriate high-security fixings to ensure the insurance rating remains valid.
SeceuroGuard Warranty & Manufacturer Guarantee
When you purchase a SeceuroGuard retractable security grille from Samson Doors, you are investing in a premium, UK-manufactured physical security product designed for long-lasting durability. To give you complete peace of mind, all SeceuroGuard 1000 and SeceuroGuard 1001 security grilles are backed by a comprehensive manufacturer guarantee from SWS UK.
What is Covered?
- 2 Year Comprehensive Warranty: Every SeceuroGuard 1000 grille comes with a standard 2 year manufacturer guarantee covering all parts against defects in material or workmanship, provided the grille is correctly installed, operated, and maintained.
- Powder Coating & Finish: The high quality galvanised steel and standard powder coated finishes are highly durable. Please note that installations in heavily corrosive environments (such as within close proximity to the coast) may require special marine-grade finishes to maintain warranty coverage against severe flaking.
- Locking Mechanisms: The multi point locking systems (both 2 point and 4 point) are fully covered under the 2 year guarantee against mechanical manufacturing defects.
Samson Doors Installation Guarantee
If you choose to have your SeceuroGuard grille professionally installed by the Samson Doors team, we guarantee our installation workmanship for 12 months from the date of completion. This ensures your grille operates smoothly and complies exactly with its intended security rating (such as the LPS 1175 SR1 rating on the SeceuroGuard 1001 model).
Conditions of the Warranty
To ensure your 2 year SWS warranty remains valid, please adhere to the following conditions:
- Proper Maintenance: The grille must be subjected to regular, basic maintenance. This includes keeping the bottom running tracks clear of debris, dirt, and stones, and periodically lubricating the locking mechanisms and running wheels with a silicone-based spray (do not use heavy grease).
- Correct Usage: The warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, forceful impact, attempted break-ins, or vandalism.
- Supply-Only Installations: If you are purchasing the grille on a "supply-only" basis, the warranty is strictly a parts-only guarantee. SWS UK and Samson Doors cannot be held liable for operational faults or structural weaknesses resulting from incorrect third-party installation. If the grille is an insurance approved model (1001), it must be installed strictly according to the manufacturer's guidelines to maintain its LPS 1175 certification.

How to Measure for SeceuroGuard Retractable Security Grilles
Accurate measuring is the most critical step when ordering your retractable security grille. We always recommend using a sturdy metal tape measure (rather than a cloth one) and taking your measurements in millimetres (mm) for the highest accuracy. Before you begin, check the surrounding area for any obstructions such as skirting boards, coving, or protruding window handles that might interfere with the tracks or the grille curtain.
1. The "Overall Size" Rule
Important: SeceuroGuard grilles are always ordered by their Overall Width and Overall Height. This means the dimensions you provide will be the exact physical size of the manufactured product, including the entire surrounding outer framework and tracks, not just the grille curtain itself.
2. Measuring for a Reveal Fit (Inside the Recess)
A reveal fit means the grille will sit inside the structural opening of your window or door.
- Take the width measurement at the top, middle, and bottom of the opening.
- Take the height measurement at the left, centre, and right.
- Always use the smallest measurement from these readings. Structural openings are rarely perfectly square.
- Deduct a fitting tolerance: You must allow room for installation and to ensure the frame doesn't get wedged tight. We recommend deducting approximately 5mm to 10mm from your smallest overall measurements to calculate your final ordering dimensions.
3. Measuring for a Face Fit (Outside the Recess) (This is not a usual position for collapsible grilles but does help on openings to provide as much clear space for a doorway or window when the grille is opened up)
A face fit means the grille will be installed onto the wall face (either inside or outside the building) overlapping the structural opening. Because it sits on the wall, your ordering dimensions will need to be larger than the opening itself. When calculating your face fit sizes, you must add the following to your opening dimensions:
- The top and bottom tracks: Ensure you have enough flat wall space above and below the opening to accommodate the track heights.
- The locking post: Allow width on the locking side.
- The Sash (Bunch) Size: When the grille is fully opened, the metal lattices bunch together at the side. This bunched sash takes up approximately 15% of the total order width. If you want the bunched grille to clear your window glass completely to allow full light, you must add this 15% to your structural width when calculating your total ordering width.
See our Comprehensive Guide to Measuring for Security Grilles >

Bunch (Sash) Sizes and Locking Options
Use the chart below to calculate exactly how much space the bunched sash will take up when the SeceuroGuard grille is fully open. This is particularly important for face-fitted grilles or doorways where maximum walk-through space is required.
Please Note - Locking Restrictions: The minimum grille height required to accommodate the upgraded 4-point locking system is 1000mm. If your ordered height is below 1000mm, the grille can only be manufactured with a standard 2-point locking system.
