When not in use these retractable gates are surprisingly unobtrusive. They can disappear neatly behind curtains, and a pelmet can be used to conceal the top track.

Installation Guidance

Preparation and Safe Handling

Installing the SeceuroGuard 1000 Large Window Security Grille requires careful preparation. Due to the substantial sizes involved (up to 3600mm x 2500mm) and the system weight of 19kg per square metre, the complete grille can be very heavy. We strongly recommend having at least two people available for the installation. Verify your opening dimensions and check that the wall substrate offers a highly secure load bearing capacity for the top track fixings.

Framework and Levelling

Position the top track within the window reveal or against the face of the wall. Use a high quality, long spirit level to ensure perfect horizontal alignment across the entire width. Any gradient over a large span will severely compromise the smooth slide operation. Mark all fixing positions through the pre drilled holes, ensuring you use every available fixing point to safely support the weight.

Fixing and Assembly

Drill your pilot holes and install the top track fixings progressively. For large single sashes over 2000mm wide, the lattice is supplied in manageable sections for safe handling. Once the framework is securely fixed, guide the first lattice section into the track system, followed by any additional sections, and join the pickets together using the supplied bolts and fixing plates. For double sash setups, install both sides and ensure they glide smoothly toward the centre.

Hardware and Finishing

Install the lock posts and slam posts. Adjust the multi point locking mechanism to ensure the overlapped locking profiles engage smoothly, then test the key operation. Wipe down the expansive lattice and tracks to remove any installation dust and ensure a quiet, effortless everyday operation.

Measuring Guidance

Accurately measuring your large window is critical. We always recommend using a sturdy metal tape measure rather than a flexible cloth one.

Face Fit (Outside the Window Recess)

Highly recommended for large windows to keep the glass clear, but not externally fitted..

• Width: Measure the width of the structural opening. Because a large grille creates a substantial stack of steel when fully open (roughly 15% of the total width), we strongly recommend adding this 15% bunch size to your structural opening width. This allows the grille to stack neatly against the solid wall, keeping your entire window completely clear. Add a further 50mm to each side to allow the framework to fix securely.
• Height: Measure the height of the opening and add a minimum of 50mm to the top and 50mm to the bottom for the track fixings but rememeber tto add on extra for the reinforcement section too, please check drawings.

Reveal Fit (Inside the Window Recess)

• Width: Measure the width of your window recess at the top, the middle, and the bottom. Take the smallest of these three measurements and deduct 10mm for a fitting tolerance. Note: The 15% bunch size will remain visible inside the window space when retracted.
• Height: Measure the height of the recess at the left side, the centre, and the right side. Take the smallest measurement and deduct 10mm for your fitting tolerance.

Important Ordering Notes

• Overall Dimensions: Always order by the Overall Width and Overall Height (including the outer framework).
• Sash Configuration: For large widths, a double sash (splitting in the middle) is often more visually balanced and easier to operate daily than a single heavy sash.
