Design and appearance
The Carteck Switch Classic with Windows is a ready‑sized, value‑engineered side‑hinged door that brings traditional styling and natural light into more accessible price brackets. The design features real glazed apertures arranged in a classic pattern, giving the door genuine character and allowing daylight to enter the garage.
This model suits properties where a period or cottage‑style door is preferred but budget or lead time make a fully bespoke door impractical. The glazing softens the elevation and makes the garage feel less utilitarian, which is especially useful where the door is visible from the street or garden.
Construction and insulation
Each leaf is constructed from a 40mm thick insulated steel panel, providing a solid, thermally efficient structure. The glazed sections are factory fitted with toughened glass, and the insulated core extends around the apertures to maintain strength and reduce cold bridging.
This construction delivers good durability and weather resistance, with seals around the frame and threshold controlling draughts and water ingress. The result is a practical, long‑lasting door at a more affordable entry point than fully purpose‑made models.
Operation and configuration
The door operates as an outward‑opening, side‑hinged pair with no internal tracks or ceiling gear. One leaf is used for everyday access, bringing light into the garage each time it is opened, while the second leaf remains closed unless full‑width access is needed.
Because this is a standard‑size model, it is supplied in fixed dimensions to suit common UK garage openings. This makes it a quick, cost‑effective solution where the structural opening falls within the available size range.
Finishes, textures and colours
The Carteck Switch Classic with Windows is offered in three standard colours, covering the most popular white and neutral tones. These finishes are chosen to suit a wide range of property styles and to coordinate easily with existing doors and windows.
The interior face is supplied in a light finish to keep the garage bright. Externally, the colour and glazing pattern work together to create a door with traditional appeal and practical light transmission.
Sizing and installation
This model is supplied in standard sizes rather than made to measure, which reduces lead time and cost. It is designed to fit common garage opening widths, making it a practical choice for straightforward installations on typical domestic garages.
The doorset is delivered pre‑assembled with the glass already fitted, so installation is reduced to positioning, fixing and final adjustment. This makes it accessible for both trade installers and competent DIY users.
