Description

Carteck XL Standard Ribbed Insulated Sectional Garage Door

The Carteck XL Standard Ribbed insulated sectional garage door is engineered to provide a classic and timeless aesthetic while delivering the heavy duty performance required for extra wide garage openings. Spanning up to 6250 mm wide, this door combines the strength of uprated XL hardware with excellent thermal insulation and reliable automatic operation.

Aesthetics of the Standard Ribbed design in Trend Colours

The Standard Ribbed layout offers a classic multi ribbed aesthetic that is particularly effective on extra wide garage doors. The evenly spaced horizontal lines run across each panel, breaking up the large surface area and creating a visually balanced and structured appearance that prevents the door from looking too plain or industrial. When finished in one of the extensive Trend Colours, the door can either make a bold contemporary statement or blend sympathetically with traditional architecture. This vast colour palette gives you complete freedom to match your home exterior perfectly, ensuring the garage enhances the overall property frontage.

Built for extra wide openings

When covering expansive spans, standard hardware is not enough. The Carteck XL door is built around a heavy duty chassis designed to keep the structure rigid and secure over long widths.

  • Rear mounted torsion spring system calibrated to balance the heavier weight of XL panels.
  • Reinforced roller brackets and panel profiles built in to prevent sagging.
  • Galvanised steel components designed to cope with increased operating loads.
  • Precision ball bearing rollers running in robust steel tracks for smooth and quiet operation.

The result is a large insulated steel sectional door that feels incredibly solid, resists flexing and moves with a controlled and consistent action.

Stable and controlled movement

The lifting gear keeps the door perfectly balanced throughout its travel, protecting the structure and helping the motor run efficiently without unnecessary strain.

  • Carefully balanced torsion springs reduce strain on the operator and physical fittings.
  • Even lifting support across the entire span helps maintain panel alignment and joint integrity.
  • Integrated safety monitoring stops and reverses the door immediately when it encounters an obstacle.

You simply press a button and the door moves in a measured and predictable way, even at the maximum XL width.

Insulation for large openings

The size of an XL door means it forms a large part of your garage exterior, making thermal performance a priority. The standard ribbed door is built to keep the elements at bay and improve overall energy efficiency.

  • Forty millimetre thick double skinned steel panels filled with a rigid polyurethane foam core.
  • High performance sealing system around the entire perimeter and between the panel sections.
  • A deep EPDM rubber bottom seal that adapts to minor floor variations to keep out dust, debris and driven rain.

This insulation is particularly useful where the garage is attached to the house, used as a workshop or forms part of a wider hobby space.

Automation specified for XL doors

A door of this magnitude requires a powerful and intelligent motor to operate safely. The XL standard ribbed comes fully automated as standard, ensuring effortless access.

  • Powered by the high output CarTeck DRIVE motor explicitly selected for large and heavy doors.
  • Built in safety sensing that stops and reverses when resistance is detected.
  • Compatible with remote transmitters, internal wall controls and secure external keypads.

If your opening is larger than the usual sectional sizes and you want strength, excellent insulation and a classic multi ribbed appearance, this model is designed to meet that exact requirement.

Application

The Carteck XL Standard Ribbed insulated sectional door suits a wide range of situations where a single expansive door is required but a premium domestic look remains essential.

  • Large single garages that require significantly more width than standard doors can provide.
  • Wide double garages where one continuous uninterrupted opening is more practical for parking.
  • Garages housing multiple vehicles or car collections that benefit from maximum clear width.
  • Attached garages where superior insulation is desirable across a very large opening.
  • New build and refurbishment projects requiring a wide automated door with a classic linear style.

Samson Doors can advise on layout, structural suitability and precise sizing for specific projects so that the chosen door is correctly matched to your opening.

Installation Guidance – Carteck XL Standard Ribbed Insulated Sectional Garage Door

General site preparation and clearances

Installation should always be carried out by an experienced professional familiar with large sectional garage doors. Before ordering, all key dimensions including clear width, clear height, headroom and side clearance must be measured accurately. The walls, lintel and ceiling or roof structure must be sound, reasonably flat and capable of taking the substantial fixing and operating loads. Additionally, the floor threshold should be as level as possible so the rubber bottom seal makes good contact. Because the torsion spring shaft is positioned internally above the opening, a defined headroom clearance is required for the shaft, cable drums and the start of the horizontal track runs. Sufficient sideroom is also needed on each side to accommodate the vertical frame legs, tracks and mounting brackets.

Frame, track and torsion spring assembly

The vertical frame legs are fixed either behind or between the reveals depending on the chosen mounting position and the building structure. Horizontal tracks are then aligned with these vertical guides and secured to the ceiling or roof structure using suitable hangers. It is essential that all tracks are set level, parallel and at the correct spacing to allow free travel without binding. The rear mounted torsion spring system features a shaft fixed on strong brackets anchored to the internal lintel structure. Springs are specifically selected and adjusted to balance the XL door size and weight, with lift cables running from the bottom corner brackets to the drums on the shaft to ensure even lifting across the wide span. Spring adjustment is a safety critical task that must only be carried out with the correct tools by trained personnel.

Electric operator setup and commissioning

The XL door comes with a compatible electric rail drive operator designed to handle the increased door mass. The operator head is usually fixed to the ceiling, with the drive rail running centrally above the door and connecting to the top door section via a carriage arm. This requires a standard 13 amp single phase power supply installed to current electrical standards. Before connecting the motor, the installer will check the door on manual operation to confirm smooth and balanced movement, ensuring all panel joints, hinges and rollers are correctly seated in the guides. Once powered, several setup cycles are run to fine tune the open and close limits. Safety functions, including force monitoring and the auto reverse mechanism, are rigorously tested at this stage using a suitable obstruction to confirm correct and safe operation.

Ongoing maintenance and care

Because of the sheer size and weight of the Carteck XL sectional door, regular professional servicing is strongly recommended to maintain safe operation and long term reliability. Structural fixings and track supports should be inspected periodically for tightness and any visible damage. Moving parts such as rollers and hinges will require occasional lubrication with an appropriate light oil or manufacturer approved product. Keeping the door panels and weather seals clean from dirt and debris will also preserve the high quality Trend Colour finish and ensure smooth running. Any major adjustments or work on the torsion springs and other high load components must always be carried out by qualified service engineers.

Warranty

Warranty Cover – Carteck XL Standard Ribbed Sectional Doors

Carteck insulated sectional garage doors supplied by Samson Doors are backed by comprehensive Teckentrup warranty cover on key components, provided the door is installed correctly and used within the specified operating limits for normal domestic use. This gives you peace of mind that your investment is protected over the long term.

The panels are covered by a ten year manufacturer guarantee against rust penetration from the inside to the outside, as well as a ten year guarantee against the separation of the steel outer skins from the inner foam core. Floor seals, intermediate seals, side seals and lintel seals are also protected by a ten year guarantee against rotting. Furthermore, all non moving frame parts benefit from a ten year guarantee covering material and manufacturing defects where such faults make the parts unusable or seriously impair their intended function.

Moving parts and hardware are subject to a five year manufacturer guarantee. This includes the SLX and GSA Vision windows, rollers, hinges, cable pulleys, lifting cables and standard springs, based on a maximum of five opening and closing cycles per day. Polymer and aluminium window units are covered by a separate two year guarantee. If a coastal paint upgrade is specified for your Trend Colour finish, there is a three year manufacturer guarantee protecting against peeling and blistering on the external face of the panels, though normal colour fading, staining and bleed from hardware remain excluded.

This warranty cover applies exclusively to qualifying Carteck sectional doors purchased in the United Kingdom through the authorised distribution route and operated within the stated duty cycles. To validate a claim, a completed warranty document and a dated sales invoice are required as proof of cover. Please note that costs associated with removal, re installation, transport and postage are not included. For the complete current warranty conditions and ongoing maintenance requirements, please refer to the official Teckentrup documentation or contact the Samson Doors team for advice before ordering.
