The Fort Vertical Medium Rib with Window combines classic vertical ribbing with practical glazed panels to create a door that balances traditional styling with modern functionality. Medium-width vertical ribs run the full height of each leaf, creating a balanced, rhythmic pattern that adds visual definition without appearing overly busy on smaller single garages. The glazed upper sections are neatly integrated into the door design, allowing natural daylight to flood into the garage while maintaining privacy when obscure or patterned glass is selected. This thoughtful combination of ribbed steel and glazing makes the door particularly well-suited to UK garages now used as workshops, hobby spaces or home gyms, where natural light and thermal performance are equally important. The vertical emphasis draws the eye upward and can help smaller garage openings feel more in proportion with taller two-storey homes.
Fort 20 mm Insulated Side Hinged Range
Fort's 20 mm double-skinned steel side hinged doors combine a rigid outer skin with an insulated core to deliver improved thermal performance, strength and a quality closing action. The doors are supplied as complete pre-assembled units with steel frame and hardware, helping to ensure accurate installation, smooth operation and long-term reliability.
Construction & Insulation
The door leaves use a double-skinned steel construction with approximately 20 mm of insulation, creating a stable panel that feels solid in everyday use. This insulated build helps reduce heat loss compared to single-skin doors, supporting more comfortable temperatures if the garage is used as a workshop, gym or utility space.
Frames, Seals and Weather Protection
Each door set is supplied with a matching steel sub frame, allowing the door and frame to work together as a single engineered unit. Circumferential seals around the leaves and frame edges help minimise draughts, wind-blown debris and rain ingress, which is particularly valuable on exposed UK driveways.
Hardware, Locking and Operation
Fort side hinged doors use robust hinges and proven locking hardware designed for frequent pedestrian access rather than occasional vehicle use. The easy swing-open action makes it simple to step in and out of the garage without operating a full lifting mechanism, ideal when the garage is used daily for storage, hobbies or home business activities.
