Fort Pro Chester Steel Side Hinged Garage Door

Traditional Design and Character

The Fort Pro Medium Rib Vertical Chester with Windows steel side hinged garage door combines bolder medium vertical ribbing with distinctive Chester style mock window panels and reinforced Fort Pro construction. This design creates a more pronounced traditional aesthetic than standard ribbed versions, making it ideal for properties where enhanced visual character and professional grade performance are priorities. The mock glazing is available with a clear or stippled appearance, allowing the door to be tailored perfectly to the character of both traditional and contemporary homes.

Unrivalled Strength and Engineering

The Pro steel side hinged door is one of the strongest single skin steel hinged garage doors in the UK today. Manufactured to be the very best, it features a reinforced single skin steel door panel combined within an aluminium sub frame and supplied pre hung in an aluminium outer frame. Unlike many other pressed steel door leaves, this door experiences almost no movement thanks to its advanced internal steel braced panel construction. This superior build integrity was developed and perfected over many years of re engineering existing market designs. The door utilises many premium features typically reserved for insulated double skinned doors, including black 3D hinges that are adjustable in three directions for perfect leaf alignment. It also features concealed shoot bolts at the top and bottom of the inactive leaf with adjustable keeps. Every door is supplied with a high quality locking system featuring an internal thumb turn, alongside double seals on the door leaf and frame with an additional panel gasket to ensure superior weather protection.

Installation

Installation Guidance

Preparation

Installing the side hinged garage door is a straightforward process thanks to the factory fitted aluminium sub frame, but it requires precise levelling for optimal performance. Before starting, measure the door and frame against the brick opening to guarantee the outward opening leaves will clear the brickwork without fouling. Gather your essential tools, which should include an electric drill, a tape measure, wedges, and a reliable spirit or laser level.

Positioning the Frame

Offer the complete door and frame unit up to the brickwork and temporarily secure it in place using wedges. Never use the existing brickwork as a visual guide for alignment, as it is rarely perfectly true. Always rely strictly on your spirit or laser level to ensure the frame is perfectly plumb before you begin drilling any holes.

Securing the Brackets

Attach the angled fixing brackets to the back of the door frame using self drilling screws, making sure to space at least three brackets evenly down each side. Fasten these brackets firmly to the wall using 50mm coach screws and appropriate wall plugs. Before you fully tighten the wall fixings, double check that both door leaves meet completely evenly across the top and adjust if necessary.

Hardware and Finishing

Install the premium locking mechanism by passing the outer handle and square spindle through the door panel, then secure the inner handle over the spindle using the supplied nut and grommet. Once the handles and optional stays are fitted, apply spray oil to the hinges, latching plates, and the deadlock to guarantee a smooth everyday operation.

Warranty

1. Warranty Period. A warranty covering the safe and reliable operation of the garage door for a period of 10 years from the date of purchase is given to the original purchaser.

The purchaser is given a 2 year warranty for all springs; tracks; rollers; and hinges for normal use, whereby normal use constitutes no more than 5 operations (open/close) per day. We recommend that they are inspected annually by a competent engineer. The warranty period for replacement parts is 6 months or for the remainder of the warranty period.

2. Requirements. Warranty is valid in the country where the garage door was purchased.
The product must have been purchased through one of our authorised partners and a barcode and receipt of purchase provided.
The warranty only covers damage to the garage door.

3. Performance. During the warranty period we will rectify defects to the Fort product that can be proved to be material or manufacturing faults. At our discretion we will either exchange; repair; or reduce the price. We will not accept any costs for dismantling; installation; or delivery.
The warranty does not cover damage caused by:
- Improper transport and fitting.
- Repairs by non-qualified or non competent individuals.
- External influences such as fire, water, alkaline solutions, acid, bird droppings or abnormal atmospheric pollution.
- The use of non Fort Doors parts without the approval of the manufacturer.

Additional Information
It is a fundamental condition of this guarantee that the product has been installed, maintained and serviced correctly and is used solely for the purpose for which it was designed.

Incorrect installation, maintenance and service will invalidate this warranty.

The door must be kept in a clean condition and free from impact damage.

Fort garage doors come with pull handles to the front panel as standard.
The pull handles are made using grade 304 Stainless steel for use externally and internally in heavily sanitised areas such as kitchens and washrooms.

Like all steel, failure to keep the item clean can cause surface blemishes and what looks like a major product failure and rusting.

You will often find marks appearing in the winter when the roads have been gritted, salt on the surface are all steel products arch enemy.

If your pull bars develop small blemished areas during December, January and February in particular then you should wash them off using cold water and washing up liquid, you can use a cream cleaner like CIF rubbed lightly to remove the blemishes.

If you have them appear it means you have salt on the surface and need to increase the frequency of the door washdown.

Please remember all stainless steel can blemish even knives and forks in a dishwasher because salt is used as a scrubbing agent, wiping blemishes off with a cloth is standard practice and you should treat the door bars the same, clean and wipe regularly.

If you live close to the sea or estuary you should apply a light oil after washing once a month to keep the item clean and fresh.
