Metador SoundGuard Acoustic Steel Doorsets

The Metador SoundGuard acoustic steel doorset delivers professional-grade sound insulation for commercial and residential applications where noise control is essential. Engineered to significantly reduce sound transmission between spaces, this versatile doorset provides acoustic performance ratings from Rw35dB up to Rw52dB, making it ideal for music studios, conference rooms, medical facilities, educational buildings, and multi-occupancy developments.

Superior Acoustic Performance

The SoundGuard range offers five distinct acoustic ratings to match your specific noise reduction requirements. Each rating corresponds to measurable reductions in audible sound, ensuring you select the right specification for your environment:

Single Door Leaf Options:

  • SoundGuard 35 (Rw35dB) – Loud speech remains audible but becomes difficult to distinguish clearly
  • SoundGuard 38 (Rw38dB) – Loud speech becomes faintly audible and difficult to distinguish
  • SoundGuard 42 (Rw42dB) – Loud speech is faintly audible but cannot be distinguished
  • SoundGuard 47 (Rw47dB) – Shouting is audible but cannot be distinguished
  • SoundGuard 52 (Rw52dB) – Shouting becomes barely audible

Double Door Leaf Options:

  • SoundGuard 35 (Rw35dB) – Loud speech audible but difficult to distinguish
  • SoundGuard 38 (Rw38dB) – Loud speech faintly audible but difficult to distinguish
  • SoundGuard 42 (Rw42dB) – Loud speech faintly audible but cannot be distinguished
  • SoundGuard 45 (Rw45dB) – Shouting audible but cannot be distinguished
  • SoundGuard 47 (Rw47dB) – Shouting barely audible

Customisable Specifications

Beyond acoustic performance, the SoundGuard doorset can be tailored to meet additional building requirements. Customisation options include bespoke sizing to fit existing openings, enhanced security features for high-risk environments, improved thermal ratings for energy efficiency, and fire resistance ratings when regulatory compliance demands it. This flexibility ensures the doorset integrates seamlessly with your project specifications without compromising acoustic integrity.

Extensive Colour Range

Choose from over 200 RAL and BS colour options to complement your interior design scheme or corporate branding. Whether you require a subtle neutral finish or a bold statement colour, the powder-coated steel construction maintains its appearance while delivering exceptional acoustic performance.

Applications

  • Recording studios and rehearsal spaces
  • Medical consulting rooms and treatment areas
  • Educational facilities and examination halls
  • Commercial offices and meeting rooms
  • Residential apartments and party walls
  • Entertainment venues and cinemas
  • Industrial facilities requiring noise containment

Technical Excellence

Manufactured to exacting standards, each SoundGuard doorset undergoes rigorous acoustic testing to verify its Rw (weighted sound reduction index) rating. The robust steel construction ensures long-term durability and consistent performance, while precision-engineered seals and gaskets eliminate sound leakage around the door perimeter.

Installation

Nearly all Metador SoundGuard acoustic steel doorsets are supplied fully factory-assembled with all hardware and sub frames fitted, ready for straightforward on-site installation. This pre-assembled approach minimises installation time and ensures optimal acoustic performance from the moment of fitting.

Delivery considerations

Due to the robust steel construction and acoustic core materials, these doorsets are substantial in weight. We strongly recommend:

  • Mechanical offloading equipment (forklift or similar) at the delivery location.
  • A minimum of two people to safely handle and manoeuvre the doorset during delivery and installation.
  • Requesting the exact weight specification before delivery to plan lifting equipment and personnel accordingly.

Installation requirements

  • Ensure the structural opening is prepared to the correct dimensions before delivery.
  • Verify that the surrounding structure can support the weight of the steel doorset.
  • Use the integrated threaded adjustors (16+ fixing points) for precise alignment and secure fixing.
  • Ensure acoustic seals and gaskets remain intact during installation to maintain the specified sound reduction rating.
  • Follow manufacturer's installation guidelines to preserve warranty and performance specifications.

Professional installation

For optimal acoustic performance and to ensure compliance with building regulations, we recommend professional installation by experienced installers familiar with acoustic doorset requirements. Contact us for approved installer recommendations or technical installation support.

Measure
A steel doorset is always ordered by the OVERALL dimensions including the door leaf and outer sub fixing frame with no tolerances allowed for. Most people would generally allow 5mm tolerance all the way around the door, but it all depends on how square or true your aperture is on site. This is up to your judgement based on the aperture quality.
This would mean if your structural opening size is measured as 1000mm width and 2100mm height the door and frame ought to be 990mm wide and 2090mm high with the frame and any threshold included.

Always measure the top, middle and bottom of your aperture width and the left and right hand side for the height and if possible do a measure to make sure the opening is square as well.

Always use millimetres for measuring as this is how we relay back the ordering dimensions to you for checking and approving a drawing for your order.

We will always send a drawing for approval before manufacturing commences.
