Carteck Georgian 40mm Insulated Sectional Garage Door
The Carteck Georgian sectional door combines the traditional elegance of a panelled design with the advanced engineering of modern German manufacturing. Constructed from 40mm thick insulated steel panels, this door offers exceptional thermal performance, security, and durability, making it a superior choice for any home.
Available in purpose-made sizes to suit your exact opening, the Carteck Georgian is designed to maximise your driveway space while keeping your garage warm, secure, and quiet.
Thermal Efficiency & Weather Protection
Each door section is built from a double-skinned steel sandwich filled with 40mm of high-density polyurethane foam. This construction provides excellent thermal insulation, helping to maintain a stable temperature inside your garage—ideal if the space is used as a workshop, gym, or connects directly to your home.
Comprehensive weather seals run around the entire perimeter of the frame, and flexible intermediate seals are fitted between each panel joint. This creates a barrier against wind, rain, and dust, ensuring your garage stays dry and draught-free.
Space-Saving Design
Unlike traditional up-and-over doors that swing out, the Carteck sectional door opens vertically. This allows you to park right up to the door on the driveway without obstruction. Because the door tracks sit behind the opening, you also benefit from increased drive-through width, making it easier to park wider modern vehicles.
Robust Construction
Carteck doors are built to last. The steel panels feature a multi-layer coating system comprising eight individual layers for maximum corrosion resistance and stability. The frame legs are galvanised steel and feature special separator elements at the base, keeping the metal off the ground to prevent rust caused by standing water.
Safety & Security
Security is integral to the design. When paired with a Carteck electric drive, the motor mechanically locks the door in the closed position, preventing it from being forced open.
- Finger-Safe: The unique panel profile is designed with built-in finger pinch protection, preventing fingers from being trapped between the sections as the door moves.
- Enclosed Springs: The balancing springs are safely enclosed within protective trays above the tracks, eliminating the risk of injury from exposed moving parts.
Quiet & Smooth Operation
The door runs on durable, wear-resistant plastic rollers with ball bearings, ensuring smooth and whisper-quiet travel. The sturdy frame construction eliminates the rattling often associated with cheaper garage doors.
Customisation
You can personalise your door to match your home perfectly:
- Colours: Choose from a wide range of hard-wearing factory finishes.
- Frame Matching: The frame can be colour-matched to the door leaf for a seamless look.
- Finishing Trims: Optional cover profiles are available to neatly clad the surrounding brickwork for a professional finish.
Applications & Suitability
The Carteck Georgian sectional door is a versatile solution that solves common architectural and lifestyle challenges. Its combination of advanced insulation, vertical operation, and traditional aesthetics makes it the ideal choice for several specific applications.
1. Integral Garages & Home Workshops
If your garage is attached to your home, or if you use the space for a gym, workshop, or utility room, the Carteck Georgian is an excellent investment.
- Thermal Efficiency: The 40mm insulated panels and full-perimeter weather seals drastically reduce heat loss. This helps maintain a stable temperature inside, lowering energy bills and keeping adjacent rooms warmer.
- Acoustic Insulation: The dense foam core and solid construction significantly dampen noise from outside traffic or internal power tools.
2. Short Driveways
For properties where driveway space is at a premium, the vertical opening mechanism is a major advantage. Unlike traditional up-and-over doors which swing outwards, the Carteck sectional door rises vertically. This allows you to park vehicles right up to the door without risking collision or preventing operation.
3. Traditional & Period Properties
While many sectional doors feature modern, horizontal rib designs, the Georgian model offers a classic panelled look (cassette style). This aesthetic perfectly complements:
- Traditional red-brick homes.
- Period properties with sash windows or panelled front doors.
- Homes where a sympathetic, non-industrial appearance is required by planning or personal taste.
4. Maximising Drive-Through Width
Modern vehicles, particularly SUVs and 4x4s, are often wider than the garages built to house them. When installed in the standard position behind the opening, the Carteck sectional door adds valuable inches to your drive-through width.
Because the frame sits behind the brickwork rather than within it, you utilise the full structural width of the opening, avoiding the loss of space common with sub-frames on up-and-over doors.
5. Exposed Locations
Garages facing prevailing winds or driving rain benefit from the Carteck's superior sealing system. The EPDM rubber seals on all four sides and between the panels create a tight barrier against the elements, preventing leaves, dust, and water ingress that often plague single-skin doors.
6. Security-Conscious Homes
For homeowners storing high-value vehicles or using the garage as a primary entry point to the house, security is paramount. The rigid double-skinned steel panels are incredibly difficult to cut through, and the door design features no obvious leverage points for forced entry. When paired with the Carteck Drive electric operator, the door is mechanically locked in the closed position.

Panel Construction
- Design: Traditional Georgian panelled style with Woodgrain surface texture.
- Thickness: 40mm double-skinned steel sections.
- Insulation: 100% CFC-free polyurethane foam core for high thermal efficiency.
- Seals: EPDM weather seals on all four sides and between panel sections.
Colour Options
The Carteck Georgian Woodgrain model is available in:
- Door Leaf: Traffic White (RAL 9016) only.
- Frame: Smooth White finish as standard.
Handle Options
The door is supplied with no handle as standard to provide a clean, secure aesthetic. However, handle sets are available as a selectable option for both manual and electric doors:
- Manual Operation: While not supplied by default, you must select a handle set if you intend to operate the door manually.
- Electric Operation: A handle is optional. Most electric doors are installed without one for improved security.
Installation Requirements
The standard steel frame is designed for installation behind the opening. However, it can be adapted for fitting within the reveal using a specialized kit.
Fitting Between the Opening (Reveal Fix)
If you are installing the door within the structural opening, you must use the In-Between Installation Kit. Note that the standard frame legs have factory-drilled holes which will be visible when fitted in the reveal; you may need to source a cloaking strip to cover these.
Sizing Calculation for In-Between Fit:
- Width: Deduct 180mm from your structural opening width to get the Ordering Width.
- Height (Manual): Deduct 120mm from your structural opening height.
- Height (Electric): Deduct 140mm from your structural opening height (or 120mm if purchasing the additional low-headroom bracket).
Please Note: For door heights over 2250mm, frames cannot be supplied undrilled.
Electric Automation
We recommend the reliable Carteck Drive system for smooth, quiet operation. The fixed chain drive mechanism is superior to revolving chain or belt designs for long-term reliability.

- The product ID number (found on the label attached to the door panel).
- A clear description and photographs of the defect.
We will then process your claim directly with Teckentrup UK to ensure a swift resolution.
*If fitting between the opening, please deduct 180mm from the opening width to determine the ordering width.
Deduct 120mm for manual doors and 140mm for electric operation (unless the additional fitting bracket is purchased then 120mm applies) from the opening height to determine the ordering height.
