Description

Outa-Dor Exit – Emergency Exit Steel Doorset

The Outa-Dor Exit is an emergency exit, fire escape, 55mm double skin steel doorset available in either single or double leaf arrangement. Purpose made to the perfect size for your requirements, this doorset is suitable for installation in the external fabric of any building.

Offered as purpose made as standard, you can also choose from various options on the panic escape hardware fitted to the door. For compliance, both Emergency Application - BS EN179 and Panic Application - BS EN1125 options are available for single or double doorsets—critical for meeting UK workplace and public building safety regulations. Properly specified emergency exit doorsets are an essential part of any commercial fire strategy, providing rapid, reliable means of escape and helping meet legal requirements for safe evacuation.

Size Range

  • Single leaf: Maximum 1340mm wide x 2823mm high
  • Double doorsets: Maximum 2592mm wide x 2415mm high

External Protection and Security

As an external door, the Outa-Dor Exit offers high protection against weather, heat and cold, and attempted forced entry—making it both a certified fire escape and a robust security entry point for the premises.

Thermal Performance

  • Tested and achieves a rating of 2.2 W/m²K based on 1090mm x 2090mm WxH size (values may vary).
  • The door also benefits from good standard levels of thermal insulation—important for external steel doorsets, energy conservation, and compliance with modern UK building regulations.
  • Reduced U-values also available with Thermaguard Technology (Patent Pending)—specify for enhanced energy efficiency.

Fire Rating Options

  • Honeycomb door leaf infill: Non-fire rated or choose 60, 120, or 240 minute fire rating.
  • Honeycomb infill cannot achieve the thermal performance of mineral wool infill. If higher thermal performance is required, consider the Outa-Dor Therm doorset.
  • Outa-Dor Therm: 60 minute fire rated option available with a U-value of 1.5 W/(m²K).
  • Non-fire rated doors with a U-value of 1.3 W/(m²K) also offered (Therm 1.3).

High Performance Steel Construction

  • Manufactured using Magnelis steel, providing exceptional anti-corrosion resistance and durability.
  • Supplied with a 10 year anti-corrosion guarantee when installed in non-coastal areas (C1 - C3 classified environments).

UK Legislation & Application Relevance

In UK workplaces and public buildings, compliant and certified emergency exit doorsets—especially when installed on the external envelope—play a vital role in fire exit strategy by providing safe, reliable escape routes and helping ensure legal obligations are met. Outa-Dor Exit combines escape hardware, security, energy efficiency, and weather protection in a single, purpose-made solution suitable for demanding UK conditions.

Application

Applications & Relevance – Outa-Dor Exit Steel Emergency Doors

Outa-Dor Exit steel emergency exit doorsets are purpose-designed for the fastest, most reliable escape in the event of an emergency. Ideal for external installation, these panic escape doors provide a dependable means of egress when every second counts.

Typical Applications

  • Warehouses & distribution centres
  • Factories & production facilities
  • Offices & commercial premises
  • Schools, colleges & educational buildings
  • Hospitals, healthcare & public buildings
  • Theatres, cinemas & assembly venues
  • Shops, retail outlets & shopping centres
  • Hotels, leisure complexes & hospitality venues
  • Sports halls, gyms & recreational spaces
  • Any building requiring certified fire escape capability

Why Choose Steel?

  • Unmatched strength and durability: Steel construction resists forced entry, physical damage, and daily wear better than timber or composite alternatives. It ensures lasting performance in demanding conditions.
  • Superior security: Steel doors are highly secure by design, with robust multi-point locking options and compatibility with advanced access control hardware.
  • Minimal maintenance: Unlike timber, steel will not warp, rot, split or require regular re-coating or sealing, even in exposed external locations.
  • Custom appearance: Steel doors can be powdercoated to almost any finish, including modern colours and textures—blending seamlessly with building architecture and delivering aesthetic appeal alongside practical performance.
  • Fire and weather resistance: Steel provides natural fire resistance and, with suitable hardware and seals, ensures excellent protection from wind, rain, and temperature extremes.

Legal Requirement & Compliance

Installation of emergency fire exit doors is a legal requirement in the UK for any building regularly occupied by more than five people, and for virtually any premises used by the public during operational hours. Correctly specified exit doors are fundamental to safe evacuation strategies, aid compliance with fire safety legislation, and are frequently scrutinised during safety inspections.

  • Doors must always be clearly marked and unobstructed, with easy access and clear signage indicating their location.
  • Escape doors should open easily in the direction of exit and be free from internal locking mechanisms when in use.
  • Regular maintenance and checks are essential to ensure escape routes remain effective and compliant.

Outa-Dor Exit steel doorsets offer the ideal solution—delivering certified performance, unrivalled durability, and long-term security, making them the preferred choice for modern fire safety compliance in all building types.
