ExitGuard Secure: Higher Security Emergency Exit

Remote Location Protection. Certified Escape. Fortified Design.

The Samson ExitGuard Secure is an enhanced emergency exit doorset designed specifically for vulnerable building perimeters. While standard fire exits provide basic security, they are often located in "blind spots"—rear alleyways, secluded courtyards, or remote industrial sides—making them a prime target for opportunistic burglars.

This door solves that vulnerability. It bridges the gap between a certified Panic Escape door (BS EN 1125/179) and a heavy-duty Security door, giving you the best of both worlds: instant egress for your staff, and a formidable barrier against forced entry.

Why Upgrade to 'ExitGuard Secure'?

Standard fire exits are secure, but the 'Secure' model adds critical reinforcements for high-risk zones:

  • Isolated Locations: Perfect for rural warehouses, rear-of-store exits, or unlit alleyways where thieves have time to work undisturbed.
  • Anti-Pry Protection: Features a full-height astragal (cover strip) that conceals the lock latch and prevents crowbar attacks on the gap between the door and frame.
  • Reinforced Hardware: Compatible with high-security multi-point panic hardware that bolts the door at the top, bottom, and centre, offering 3x the resistance of a standard single-point latch.

Custom Sizing

Manufactured to order for a perfect structural fit:

  • Max Width: 1460mm (Single Leaf).
  • Max Height: 2960mm.

Performance Without Compromise

Despite the extra armour, compliance remains our priority. The door is fully certified for fire escape use.

Weather & Thermal:
A high-performance external barrier, the door includes full weather sealing to protect against wind and rain, alongside excellent thermal insulation properties to meet modern energy efficiency standards.

Construction:
Built on a heavy-duty steel chassis with a bonded core, the leaf offers superior impact resistance compared to timber or composite alternatives. The frame features integrated dog-bolts that lock the hinge side solid, even if the hinges are cut.

Need Certified Ratings? If your insurance requires a specific security grade (e.g., LPS 1175 SR2 or SR3), please view our Defender Extreme range, which combines panic escape with accredited intruder resistance.
Specification

Technical Specification: Samson ExitGuard Secure

The ExitGuard Secure is a custom-engineered barrier. While it does not hold a specific LPS 1175 rating (see our Defender Extreme range for rated doors), it is significantly up-armoured compared to a standard fire exit. It relies on brute strength—thicker steel, heavy-duty hinging, and attack-resistant cores—to deter opportunistic break-ins.

1. Enhanced Construction

Door Leaf Material: Upgradeable to 1.5mm or 2.0mm Galvanised Steel skins.
Core: Options include a Solid Timber Core for ultimate impact resistance and a solid "thud" feel, or High-Density Mineral Wool.
Anti-Jemmy: Full-height folded anti-jemmy flange on the leading edge creates a "wall of steel" with no purchase points for crowbars.
Hinging (Security) Standard: 4x Stainless Steel Dog-Bolt hinges (interlock with frame).
High Security Upgrade: Full-length Continuous Hinge (Piano Hinge) available. This eliminates the gap between door and frame entirely on the hinge side, removing a common attack point.
Frame 95mm - 110mm deep single rebate profile.
Manufactured from 2.0mm high-tensile steel with adjustable fixing feet for rapid, secure installation.

2. Security Hardware & Panic Exit

We recommend specific hardware configurations to maximize the security of this doorset:

Panic Hardware Compatible with BS EN 1125 (Panic Bar) and BS EN 179 (Emergency Pad).
Security Recommendation: Use Multi-Point locking panic bars (3-point locking) rather than single-point latches to secure the door at the top, bottom, and centre.
External Access Best Practice: For maximum security, specify with No External Access (blank outer face).
Controlled Access: If entry is required, we can fit high-security Outside Access Devices (OAD) with shear-off handles that break if forced, leaving the mechanism locked.

3. Finishes & Aesthetics

  • Powder Coating: Polyester Powder Coated (PPC) to any of 200+ RAL or BS colours.
  • Stainless Steel: Available in Brushed, Polished, or Patterned Stainless Steel for extreme durability or architectural requirements.
  • Unfinished: Available in Zinc Primed finish for site painting.

4. Configuration & Sizes

Configuration Max Width Max Height
Single Leaf 1470mm 3800mm (with over panel)
Double Leaf 2860mm 3800mm (with over panel)

5. Options & Accessories

  • Thresholds:
    • Standard: DDA compliant 2mm stainless steel (chamfered).
    • Options: Raised/extended cills, inward-opening drainage profiles, or 4mm ramped designs.
    • Integrated removable thresholds available for plant replacement.
  • Vision Panels: High-security vision panels (1mm steel surround, screwed from secure side) with laminate glass.
  • Security Louvres: Optional Security Louvres can be fitted (blades are welded/fixed to prevent removal). Includes bird/insect mesh.
  • Side/Over Panels: Matching solid or glazed panels to fill larger structural openings.
Installation

Every steel doorset is supplied completely factory assembled for the easiest on site installation and includes:

Full fitting kit with 11mm allen key for frame adjustments
Pot of touch up paint
Tube of clear mastic for use under the threshold
Selection of drill pieces for fitting into concrete or steel
Self cutting frame fixings and spare hinge screws
Any steel doorset will be heavy with all hardware and sub frame assembled so you will need at least 2 people to handle the door into position and possibly more when the door is an enhanced specification on security for example
All locks and hardware are already fitted in the factory with only the protruding parts supplied loose for on site fitting.

Measure
A steel doorset is always ordered by the OVERALL dimensions including the door leaf and outer sub fixing frame with no tolerances allowed for. Most people would generally allow 5mm tolerance all the way around the door, but it all depends on how square or true your aperture is on site.
This means if your structural opening size is measured as 1000mm width and 2100mm height the door and frame ought to be 990mm wide and 2090mm high with the frame and any threshold included.

Always measure the top, middle and bottom of your aperture width and the left and right hand side for the height and if possible do a measure to make sure the opening is square as well.

Always use millimetres for measuring as this is how we relay back the ordering dimensions to you for checking and approving a drawing for your order.

The ExitGuard does have an adjustable fitting frame to take up to 30mm of tolerance into account which helps when the opening is not square.
