Installation: Reveal or face fit

Before ordering, you must decide exactly where the grille will mount. Because of its trackless design, installation is straightforward and avoids complex groundwork. You can face fit the barrier onto the internal wall, or choose a standard reveal fit positioned directly in-between the doorway aperture. Face fitting is usually the better choice for doorways. It allows the fully retractable sash to stack completely clear of the opening, giving you maximum walk-through width. If a tight reveal fit is your only option, the system includes a standard hinge on the fixed side. This swing-away functionality lets you pivot the bunched sash 90 degrees or more to clear the opening, keeping the entrance highly accessible during the day.

How it operates

The system operates entirely without fixed top or bottom tracks, making it exceptionally adaptable for uneven floors or doorways where tracks would cause an unacceptable trip hazard. Reveal or Face Fit Configurations

You must choose between a standard reveal fit or a face fit specification. The reveal option fits the gate exactly in-between your brickwork or frame. A face fit mounts the gate to the inside wall using 38mm square vertical steel posts, and you can specify optional spacers at 75mm or 150mm to clear protruding handles or skirting boards. When specifying a face fit, you should always order a size larger than the opening. This allows the opened sash to stack completely out of the way to leave your entrance fully clear.

Options and Modifications

Mounting the Gate

You simply hang the main sash from your wall or door frame using the standard pair of hinges provided. On the opposite side of the opening, fix the S36 'U' bracket securely to the structure. The gate pulls across the doorway and locks directly into the bracket using the L205B lock pack. This provides a secure, physical closure without the need for further components and also allows a degree of flexibility on the accuracy required.

Castor Wheel Clearance

For gates over 1300mm wide, an S8 Castor wheel is included to support the moving end of the sash. When measuring to fit the grille squarely within a tight doorway reveal, you must allow exactly 45mm of vertical clearance beneath the gate to accommodate this wheel. This guarantees the sash glides freely without dragging.
