Seceuroglide Compact Full Hood – Electric Insulated 55mm Roller Garage Door
A made to measure electric remote control roller garage door for when maximising your drive through height is essential or you have limited headroom.
SWS were one of the first manufacturers of the electric aluminium double-skinned roller garage door in the UK. That heritage matters. When you buy a Seceuroglide, you're getting one of the most highly developed garage doors of its type – not a copycat product. No other roller door brand matches the fine details and build quality found in a genuine Seceuroglide. Components are manufactured in the UK using the highest quality parts from Alulux, their German sister company.
The Seceuroglide Compact has been designed by SWS specially for garages with severely limited headroom above the opening. Where a standard Seceuroglide won't fit, the Compact almost certainly will.
Construction and Materials
The Compact uses a 55mm insulated double-skin aluminium slat, significantly narrower than the standard Seceuroglide profile. Each slat contains a CFC-free foam core for thermal insulation and weather resistance. The curtain, guides, and hood enclosure are finished in a durable powdercoat, ensuring a tough exterior that handles the British weather. Robust endlocks hold the individual slats firmly in position, and a stainless steel locking attachment system provides far greater strength than the plastic locking arms found on cheaper doors from other manufacturers.
How It Operates
Smooth electric operation comes as standard, powered by the SeceuroDrive motor. A unique end plate system secures the door firmly shut each time it closes. Because the curtain is held rigidly in its guides, the door cannot be lifted open from the bottom by intruders.
Sizes and Configuration
This full hood cover model is available in widths up to 3000mm and heights up to 2150mm. The narrower 55mm slat rolls into a much tighter coil, requiring just 205mm (8") of headroom above the opening.
The versatile Compact can be fitted in front of, behind, or in between the garage opening. This model comes with the full hood cover as standard, a 90-degree folded aluminium section forming a fascia to the front, plus an additional section with two 45-degree folds creating a complete hood enclosure around the roll. The full hood protects the coiled curtain from weather and debris, providing a neat, finished appearance from the outside. This specification works well for externally fitted doors as well as in-between or behind-fitted installations. If you intend to fit externally to your garage please email or call us to discuss final specifications as some additional components may be required.
Standard Package
Each door is supplied with:
- SeceuroDrive motor

Warranty
The Seceuroglide carries one of the longest manufacturer warranties in the industry – and it covers all the relevant parts. This isn't a fluffy sales warranty riddled with caveats. SWS provides a comprehensive 5-year warranty as standard, and the SeceuroDrive motor now comes with a 7-year warranty. The full door warranty can also be extended free of charge to 7 years on request.
Ideal applications for UK garages
Older UK properties, flat roof garages, and pre-cast concrete outbuildings frequently suffer from severely restricted headroom above the lintel. The Seceuroglide Compact handles these precise scenarios. Taking up just 205mm of space, it fits where standard roller doors fail.
This smaller slat by comparison is never going to be the most secure but the Seceuroglide does a better job than other slats of this height in terms of strength.
If security is a main concern this is not the roller door for you.
A key point people miss: the 50mm hang-down
While the coil itself requires 205mm of headroom, you must account for the bottom slat. When the door is completely open, the curtain still hangs down into the opening by approximately 50mm. This is a crucial detail. If your vehicle clearance is already tight, factor this hang-down into your final height calculations.
Do you actually need a Compact door?
Many buyers assume a lack of 300mm headroom forces them to abandon the standard 77mm Seceuroglide and buy the Compact model instead. This is not true. You can still install the standard door by allowing the larger roll to drop below the lintel and into the opening space. To keep the installation looking neat, you just specify a half hood fascia or a full hood cover. This hides the exposed roll entirely from the outside.
The bottom line on drive through dimensions
Your decision should not hinge purely on whether the roll sits completely hidden behind the brickwork. The measurements that actually matter are your final drive-through width and height. As long as you have enough clearance to park comfortably, an exposed but covered roll is perfectly fine. The Compact model is simply the right tool when every single millimetre of vertical drive-through height is critical.
Seceuroglide Compact – Technical Specification
Standard specification for Full Hood Cover Model
- 55mm insulated double-skin aluminium slat with a CFC-free foam core.
- 205mm (8") tight coil requirement for severely limited headroom applications.
- Full box canopy supplied as standard.
- Powder coated guides and head plates supplied as standard.
- Tubular motor fitted on the left hand side as standard (when viewed from inside looking out for internal fits, or outside looking in for external fits).
- Optical safety edge and internal manual override included.
Sizes and dimensions
The Compact model accommodates openings up to 3000mm wide and 2150mm high. The minimum ordering width is 1050mm over the guides.
When calculating clearances using the standard 60mm guides, the Drive Through Width (DTW) equates to the Over Guide Width (OGW) minus 120mm. The Drive Through Height is equivalent to the total Guide Height minus 50mm.
Construction and materials
The narrower 55mm curtain profile enables the tighter coil. The system utilises extruded aluminium components and a sturdy locking system paired with rolling code remote control technology. Textured woodgrain doors, such as Mahogany and Golden Oak, are supplied with matching bottom slats, alongside a brown inner face, guides, end plates, and half box as standard.
Some marking will eventually appear at the top of the concave (coil) side of the curtain. This is an unavoidable result of the compact slats remaining in prolonged contact with the locking system.
Safety and practical considerations
Every Compact door is fully CE and UKCA marked. The standard optical safety edge provides necessary anti-entrapment protection. If a vehicle will be parked very close to the door, SWS recommends installing additional photo cells. A combination of the bottom slat sensor and photo cells is a statutory requirement where a door opens directly onto a public pavement or area.
Despite the slimmer profile, the door is independently tested to a minimum Class 2 wind resistance classification, withstanding up to 59mph winds (Force 10 storm). However, it remains a lower security design compared to the standard Seceuroglide and is unsuitable for highly exposed locations.
Options and accessories
- Magnet Kit (EC726O0): Required when the door is fitted on an uneven floor. It prevents the floor from compressing the rubber chamber and generating a false obstacle signal, which would cause the door to reopen. Double doors are particularly susceptible to this if the floor is higher in the middle of the opening.
- Low level external override kit: Essential if the garage door is the only point of entry, allowing manual operation from the outside in an emergency.
- Remote control keypad: A wireless controller providing a secure alternative for external operation.
- Pre-wired RCD: Available as a surcharge addition to the remote control system.
Seceuroglide Compact Installation Guidance
Before you begin
Always review the full manufacturer instructions supplied with your Seceuroglide Compact before starting any work. Confirm your structural opening is square, plumb, and level. Significant deviations will immediately affect guide alignment and the smooth operation of the curtain. You also need a suitable 240V fused spur connection point within reach of your intended motor position. A qualified electrician should complete the final electrical connection.
Checking your fitting position
The door can sit either behind the structural opening or entirely in between it. Fitting behind the brickwork is the most common and straightforward method. If you are fitting in between, ensure you have accounted for the 60mm wide guides on each side, plus adequate clearance tolerances. Whichever method you use, double-check that your ordered dimensions match the actual opening space once the guides and endplates are factored in.
Headroom and clearances
You must have a minimum of 205mm of clear space above the guide height to accommodate the endplates and the hood box. Check this measurement thoroughly before ordering. If your lintel or ceiling is too low, the hood will not fit properly, and the door mechanism will suffer. Also, remember to allow for a maximum 50mm of curtain hang down when the door is fully open. This is standard on all roller garage doors and must be considered if your drive-through height is critical.
Securing the guides
The extruded aluminium guides must be firmly fixed to a solid structural surface on both sides of your opening. Choose fixings appropriate for your wall material. For brick and block walls, heavy-duty wall plugs and coach screws are usually required. The guides must be perfectly parallel and completely vertical. Even a minor misalignment will cause the curtain to bind, scrape, or run unevenly. Take your time here. This step dictates the overall quality of your final installation.
Mounting the barrel assembly
The steel barrel and endplates sit directly above the guides. These need to be fixed level and square across the top of the opening. Because the endplates carry the entire weight of the curtain and the motor, your fixings must be absolutely secure. Never fix into weak, loose, or crumbling masonry. If the lintel is in poor condition, remedial work is essential before proceeding.
Positioning the motor
The electric tube motor sits inside the barrel on the side you specified during ordering. This is also where your manual winding override will be accessible from inside the garage. Confirm the motor side before you begin final assembly. Swapping it later requires a complete strip down. Route the motor cable neatly down the wall to your 240V fused spur, keeping it protected and tidy with appropriate trunking or clips.
Fitting the hood cover
Once the barrel, endplates, and curtain are correctly installed, the hood cover fits over the top to enclose the roll. Whether you have ordered the half hood fascia or the full hood box, ensure the panels sit flush and are securely fastened. A properly fitted hood provides vital protection against wind and dust, so any gaps or loose sections will compromise its effectiveness.
Final checks and testing
Run the door through several complete open and close cycles. Listen carefully for any scraping, binding, or uneven movement. Check that the curtain tracks smoothly in both guides without undue resistance. Confirm the locking mechanism engages properly when the door is closed. Test the manual winding override to ensure it operates freely in an emergency. Once everything runs cleanly, secure any loose cables and tidy the surrounding area.
Important safety notes
- A minimum of two people is required for installation due to the heavy weight of the barrel assembly and curtain.
- All electrical connections must be completed by a qualified electrician and strictly comply with current UK wiring regulations.
- Do not modify or bypass any safety features, including bottom edge sensors or control panel logic.
- If you are unsure about any part of the installation process, contact us or consult a professional garage door installer.

Free 7 Year Motor Warranty Extension
The standard 5 year automation warranty on the Seceuroglide Compact can be extended to an unequalled 7 years entirely free of charge. This 7 year guarantee covers both the motor and the control unit. To qualify, you must register your door online at the manufacturer's website within 3 months of installation using the unique ORD number found on the inside of your door.
Important Exclusions and Conditions
To keep your warranty valid, the door must be installed by an approved professional and maintained according to the SWS Operating & Maintenance Manual. It is recommended that the door is serviced every 12 months, and you may be required to produce a service record when making a claim.
Please note that the parts-only warranty does not cover labour costs, call-out fees, or transport costs for removing or reinstalling parts. Furthermore, the warranty does not cover:
- Normal wear and tear, including unavoidable marking at the top of the concave (coil) side of the curtain caused by prolonged contact with the locking system.
- Minor aesthetic blemishes or scuffs that are not visible from at least 3 metres away in natural daylight.
- Damage caused by incorrect installation, accidental damage, or malicious impact.
- Rust or corrosion on products installed within 500 metres of the sea or a large body of saltwater (doors installed within 2 miles of the sea have a limited 2 year exterior finish guarantee and require weekly cleaning).

Making a Claim
If you experience an issue, any warranty claim must be raised through your original installer or an approved SWS UK distributor like Samson Doors. You will need to provide your door's ORD number, the installation address, and the date of installation to process the claim.

Measuring and Ordering the Seceuroglide Compact
Taking your structural measurements
Before ordering, you need accurate dimensions of your bare brickwork opening. Measure the width across the top, middle, and bottom. Do the same for the height on the left, centre, and right. Always use the tightest measurements you find as your baseline. Brickwork is rarely perfectly straight. Finding the narrowest point ensures the frame will actually fit the available space without issue.
Ordering dimensions explained
This roller door uses two main sizing terms. First is the Over Guide Width (OGW). This is the total width of the curtain plus the two 60mm vertical guides. Second is the Guide Height (GH). This is just the height of the vertical guides. Crucially, the GH completely excludes the 205mm endplates and hood box sitting at the top of the door.
Fitting behind the brickwork
Installing the door on the inside face of your garage is the most reliable approach. Take your clear brickwork width and add 120mm to cover the two 60mm side guides. This final figure is your Over Guide Width. Your opening height becomes your Guide Height. Just make sure you have at least 205mm of completely clear headroom directly above the lintel so the compact hood box can sit out of the way.
Fitting within the opening (in-between)
If the door needs to sit entirely inside the brickwork tunnel, the approach changes. Your Over Guide Width must fit neatly between the walls. Your Guide Height becomes the total height of your opening minus the 205mm needed for the compact hood box.
The factory cuts exactly to the millimetre you specify. They do not shrink the door to help you fit it. You have to deduct your own working tolerance so the framework clears the masonry comfortably. How much you reduce the size depends entirely on how rough or out of square your opening is. Keep in mind that fitting this way immediately reduces your drive-through width by 120mm for the guides, plus whatever tolerance gap you have decided to leave.
How to place your order
Every Seceuroglide Compact is made to measure. On the shop page, pricing is grouped into size bands. Simply pick the nearest 'up to' size bracket that covers your required dimensions. So if your Over Guide Width is 2350mm, you select the 'up to 2500mm' option.
Later in the order process, you will find specific text boxes. Put your exact millimetre measurements in there. The factory will then build the door precisely to those exact figures.
