Description

SeceuroShield 60 Electric | High-Performance Commercial Security Shutter

For businesses demanding the highest standards of security without sacrificing convenience, the electrically operated SeceuroShield 60 offers the ultimate solution. This exceptionally strong system combines a robust, extruded aluminium construction with the seamless efficiency of state-of-the-art electric motors, providing unparalleled protection at the push of a button.

Designed for larger openings and high-traffic commercial environments, the SeceuroShield 60 Electric removes the physical strain of manual operation while delivering a formidable barrier against intrusion.

Effortless Operation & Reliability

At the heart of the SeceuroShield 60 is a high-quality 240V tubular motor (typically Somfy), renowned for its reliability and smooth performance. This powerful motor makes daily operation effortless, eliminating the need for manual lifting and lowering—a crucial benefit for staff health and safety.

  • Large Span Capability: The electric format can secure vast openings of up to 6000mm wide, making it the perfect choice for wide shop fronts, loading bays, and commercial entrances.
  • Operational Efficiency: Electric operation ensures your premises can be secured or opened quickly and safely, streamlining your opening and closing routines.

Advanced Access Control

The system offers a wide array of access control options to suit your specific site requirements. You can tailor the operation to match your security protocols, ensuring only authorised personnel can operate the shutter.

  • Control Options: Choose from simple internal rocker switches, secure external key switches, or sophisticated remote control fobs and digital keypads.
  • Smart Integration: For complete control, the SeceuroShield 60 can be connected to building management systems (BMS), allowing for centralised monitoring and automated security routines.
  • Emergency Access: In the event of a power failure, an optional manual override facility ensures you always have access and control over your property (must be specified at order stage).

Uncompromising Strength & Style

While the focus is on advanced operation, the shutter’s core strength remains uncompromising. The double-skinned, extruded aluminium slats create an exceptionally rigid curtain that resists impact and forced entry attempts.

  • Complete Enclosure: Supplied as standard with a full hood cover (box) to protect the mechanism and ensure a neat installation.
  • Custom Aesthetics: The curtain and guides can be powder-coated in almost any RAL or BS colour to perfectly complement your building's architecture and corporate branding, ensuring your security measures look as professional as your business.

Guide Rails

Extruded aluminium with integral box reinforcement and high-density pile brush seals (4mm or 7mm) for quiet, smooth operation.

  • UPH 140: 60mm wide x 27mm deep (used with 205mm box only).
  • UPH 240: 75mm wide x 27mm deep (used with 250mm or 300mm box).
  • UPH 250: 90mm wide x 34mm deep (recommended for wider shutters and higher security applications, used with 250mm or 300mm box).

Operation & Control

Electric Operation

Powered by a high-quality tubular motor housed inside the axle for effortless raising and lowering. Electric operation is mandatory for shutters weighing over 25kg.

  • Motor Specification: 240V AC motor drawing between 0.5 - 2.5 amps depending on size. Features integral limit switches and thermal cut-out protection. Includes a 2-metre power cable.
  • Power Supply: Requires a standard 13-amp fused spur.
  • Standard Control: Supplied with a momentary "hold-to-run" switch, which must be held down until the shutter reaches the desired position.
  • Upgrade Options: Remote control fobs and smart controls (using Somfy equipment) are available. Note: Remote control systems over doorways require additional safety detection devices.
  • Manual Override: A manual override system (hand crank) is recommended for shutters installed on single-exit doorways to ensure operation during a power failure.

Installation Notes

  • Guide Fixings: Typically 3 fixings for lengths up to 1000mm, and 5 fixings for lengths up to 2000mm.
  • Box Fixings: Secured at each end plate. For widths over 2000mm, additional fixings at 1000mm centres are required.
  • Sealing: For external installations, a silicone seal should be applied along the top of the box and down the sides of the guide rails to prevent water ingress.
Installation

The SeceuroShield 60 Electric should be installed and commissioned by a qualified, trained engineer. Correct alignment, secure fixings and accurate motor limit setting are essential for smooth operation, safe use, and long-term reliability.

Pre‑Installation Checks

  • Confirm the order: Check the delivery note, package count, assembly drawing, dimensions and colour before starting.
  • Inspect components: Ensure the curtain, guides and box are undamaged and all accessories are present.
  • Do not proceed: If the shutter size/spec differs from the order or any parts are missing/damaged.

Prepare the Opening

  • Structure suitability: The fixing substrate must be sound and capable of supporting the shutter load (dynamic loading must be considered).
  • Clear fitting footprint: Remove/avoid obstructions (pipes, cables, protrusions) that could twist guides or catch the curtain.
  • Sub‑frame/packers if required: If the surface is not flat/level, use suitable packers or a sub-frame for a flush, secure fit.
  • Level base: Ensure the floor/sill is flat and level for proper curtain closure.

Fitting the Guides & Box (Built‑On / Reveal)

The key to a reliable shutter is a box that is level and guide rails that are perfectly vertical. Any twist or pinch in the guides can lead to poor running, noise, or curtain damage.

  • Assemble frame: Fit guide rails onto the box end lugs (ensure lock keeps/slots are correctly orientated where applicable).
  • Offer to opening & centralise: Lift into position, check level/plumb, then mark fixing points.
  • Fix guides: Start with the top fixings to hold alignment; drill fixing holes to suit your chosen fixing method.
  • Cover-cap method (typical): Create a 7mm through hole, then enlarge the front face hole to 13mm to accept guide cover caps.
  • Fix box securely: Secure the box at appropriate intervals (commonly 1000mm centres), then check the dummy end is fully located and tighten grub screws.

Motorised Installation (Electric)

  • Protect the axle: Before loading the curtain, cover the axle with bubble wrap (or similar) to prevent surface damage.
  • Load the curtain: Feed the curtain over the axle and down into the guide mouths carefully to avoid scratching the finish.
  • Attach to axle: Fit and evenly distribute attachment straps (and collars if supplied), then fix with the correct screws from the fitting pack.
  • Set motor limits safely: Use a motor test lead where possible when setting limits, then set the fully closed limit followed by the fully open limit.
  • Height check: Check curtain height/finish position within the box; add or remove slats if required before finalising limits.

Electrical Wiring (Safety Notes)

  • Wiring: Wire the switch/control equipment as per the supplied instructions and applicable regulations.
  • Multiple motors: Do not wire two or more motors to a single pole switch (can cause malfunction).
  • Safety devices: If an anti-fall/anti-drop device is supplied (e.g., brake with microswitch), ensure it is wired in as required.

Finishing & Weather Sealing

  • Box lid/hood: For external installations, secure the box lid appropriately (e.g., colour-matched rivets where specified).
  • Fit cover caps: Install cover caps over guide fixings where applicable for a clean finish.
  • Seal edges: Apply mastic/silicone around the shutter perimeter to weatherproof the installation and prevent water ingress.
  • Final clean: Remove protective film and wipe down box, guides and curtain.

Commissioning, Handover & Maintenance

  • Functional test: Run full open/close cycles to confirm smooth travel, correct limits and reliable operation of the control method.
  • Force/safety checks: Carry out the required safety checks and confirm the shutter is only operated when in view and the opening is clear.
  • Documentation: Provide the customer with the operating and maintenance instructions and complete any required conformity marking documentation.
  • Servicing: Recommended service interval is every 12 months or every 1,000 cycles (whichever comes first).
