Description
The Samson HomeGuard is a premium security steel doorset engineered specifically for the critical entry point between your integral garage and main home. Combining certified 60-minute fire protection (FD60) with advanced intruder resistance, it offers peace of mind far beyond that of a standard timber fire door.
Unrivalled Security & Locking
Designed to be your home's first line of defence, the HomeGuard features a high-performance multi-point locking system superior to typical internal doors. For extended absences, the unique "Holiday Mode" engages a secondary set of security bolts via an independent cylinder, effectively double-locking the door against forced entry.
Built for Longevity & Performance
Constructed from 55mm double-skinned Magnelis® steel, the door leaf offers exceptional corrosion resistance and durability, outlasting traditional galvanised or timber alternatives. While supplied with a 1-hour (60 min) fire rating as standard to meet building regulations, we can upgrade the specification to 120 minutes (2 hours) or even 240 minutes (4 hours) on request.
Custom Made for a Perfect Fit
Every HomeGuard door is made to measure to your exact requirements.
Standard Sizes: Single leaf doors available up to 1085mm wide x 2195mm high (overall frame size). Larger sizes and double doors are available on request.
Aesthetics are just as important as security. You can specify dual-colour finishes—allowing the door to match your garage interior on one side and your hallway décor on the other. High-quality stainless steel lever handles are fitted as standard.
Easy Installation & Adjustable Frame
The HomeGuard is delivered as a pre-assembled doorset, complete with the sub-frame, hardware, and furniture factory-fitted for the easiest possible on-site installation.
The outer fixing sub-frame features an adjustable 'C' channel profile, offering up to 30mm of tolerance. This smart design accommodates openings that aren't perfectly square, ensuring a secure fit without complex on-site modifications. (Note: Always order based on your smallest structural opening dimensions.)
Certified Protection
Suitable for internal and external applications across various wall constructions, Samson HomeGuard doors are designed to protect personnel and property from the spread of flames and smoke. The range is fully tested to BS 476 Parts 20 & 22 and BS EN 1634, offering substantial benefits over comparable timber doors in strength, durability, and security.
ApplicationThe Samson HomeGuard is primarily designed for residential properties requiring a high-performance 1-hour (FD60) fire-rated door combined with superior security. It is the definitive solution for the integral garage-to-house doorway, where building regulations mandate fire separation, but homeowners demand robust security against break-ins.
Why Choose Steel Over Timber?
Steel offers unmatched fire integrity and durability compared to traditional timber doors. Historically, steel doors were purely functional, but modern manufacturing allows the HomeGuard to seamlessly blend into any domestic interior.
- Aesthetics: Available in a wide range of RAL powder-coated colours and realistic woodgrain laminate finishes.
- Dual-Finish Option: Specify a different colour for each side of the door—match your garage interior on one side and your hallway décor on the other.
- Security: Far stronger than timber, with multi-point locking as standard.
Ideal Installation Scenarios
While perfect for the garage-to-home link, the HomeGuard is also suitable for:
- High-Value Storage Rooms: Secure internal rooms for wine cellars, gun cabinets, or server rooms.
- Personnel Access Doors: Side or rear garage personnel doors requiring fire and security performance.
- Communal Entrances: Flats or HMOs where fire separation and robust access control are critical.
- Boiler Rooms: Containing fire risks within utility spaces.

Installation
Installation & Assembly: Samson HomeGuard
The Samson HomeGuard is engineered for straightforward, secure installation. We understand that fitting a high-security steel door can seem daunting, which is why every HomeGuard doorset is delivered fully factory assembled. The door leaf, sub-frame, multipoint locking system, and threshold are all pre-installed and aligned before it leaves our factory.
Factory Assembly Benefits
- Zero Assembly Required: No complex building of frames or hanging of heavy leaves on site.
- Precision Fit: Locks and latches are factory-adjusted for smooth operation.
- Speed: Drastically reduces installation time compared to kit-form doors.
Included Installation Kit
Every HomeGuard doorset comes with a comprehensive installation pack containing everything you need to secure the frame into your opening:
- Adjustment Tool: 11mm Allen key for fine-tuning the frame fit.
- Fixing Pack: Heavy-duty self-cutting frame fixings and a selection of drill bits suitable for concrete or steel lintels/masonry.
- Finishing Essentials: Colour-matched touch-up paint and a tube of clear mastic for a weather-tight seal under the threshold.
- Spares: Extra hinge screws included for peace of mind.
The Adjustable Frame Advantage
The HomeGuard features a smart adjustable 'C' channel sub-frame. This allows for up to +/- 15mm tolerance on each side (30mm total), making it much easier to install into openings that aren't perfectly square or have uneven brickwork—a common issue in garage environments.
Hardware Note:
While the internal multipoint locking system is factory-fitted, protruding items such as the stainless steel lever handles and cylinder escutcheons are supplied loose in a separate box. This prevents damage during transit and allows for easy final attachment once the door is installed.
WarrantySamson HomeGuard Warranty Policy
The Samson HomeGuard security doorset is built to last, using premium materials and manufacturing processes. We back the quality of our products with a comprehensive warranty package designed to give you complete peace of mind.
10-Year Anti-Corrosion Warranty
The HomeGuard door leaf and frame are manufactured from Magnelis® steel, offering superior corrosion resistance compared to standard galvanised steel. As a result, we provide an anti-corrosion warranty of up to 10 years against rust-through (perforation).
*Subject to site location and environmental conditions (e.g., coastal or marine environments may have reduced warranty periods). Please contact us for specific advice if you are located near the sea.
1-Year Manufacturer’s Warranty
All mechanical components and moving parts are covered by a standard 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects. This includes:
- Hardware: Hinges, multipoint locking mechanisms, handles, and cylinders.
- Operation: Smooth function of the door leaf and frame alignment (when installed correctly).
- Finish: Powder coating and paint finishes are warranted against peeling, cracking, or severe blistering (excluding impact damage or normal wear and tear).
Warranty Conditions
To ensure your warranty remains valid, please observe the following:
- Installation: The door must be installed in accordance with our provided instructions. Incorrect installation that causes twisting or binding of the frame will void the warranty on mechanical parts.
- Maintenance: Regular maintenance (cleaning and lubrication of moving parts) is required. Neglect or lack of maintenance may invalidate claims.
- Modifications: Any unauthorized cutting, drilling, or modification of the door leaf or frame will void the warranty and may compromise the fire certification.
- Exclusions: Damage caused by accident, misuse, vandalism, forced entry attempts, or acts of nature (storm, flood) is not covered.

MeasureCorrectly measuring your opening is the most important step in ordering a made-to-measure Samson HomeGuard security door. Steel doorsets cannot be trimmed on site like timber doors, so accuracy is key.
1. Measure the Structural Opening
Take all measurements in millimetres (mm). We work in mm for all manufacturing drawings and order confirmations.
- Width: Measure the structural opening width at the top, middle, and bottom. Take the smallest of these three measurements.
- Height: Measure the structural opening height at the left and right sides. Take the smallest of these two measurements.
- Check for Square: Measure the diagonals (corner to corner) to ensure the opening is square.
2. Calculate Your Ordering Size (Overall Frame Dimensions)
Steel doorsets are always ordered by their OVERALL FRAME DIMENSIONS (including the door leaf, outer sub-frame, and threshold). You must deduct a fitting tolerance from your structural opening measurements to get your final ordering size.
Example Calculation (Standard 5mm Tolerance):
If your smallest structural opening measurements are:
Width: 1000mm
Height: 2100mm
Your ORDERING SIZE should be:
Width: 990mm (1000mm - 10mm total for left/right gap)
Height: 2090mm (2100mm - 10mm total for top/bottom gap)
Note: We generally recommend allowing approximately 5mm clearance on all sides (10mm deduction on width and 10mm on height) to ensure the frame fits comfortably into the opening.
3. The Adjustable Frame Advantage
The Samson HomeGuard features an adjustable fixing sub-frame. This clever design can accommodate site tolerances of up to +30mm, making installation significantly easier if your structural opening is slightly out of square or has uneven brickwork.
