Description

SeceuroDoor 75 Continental Industrial Roller Shutter (240V Tube Motor)

The SeceuroDoor 75 Continental (20 Gauge) is an upgraded version of our standard commercial roller shutter, featuring a thicker 20 gauge (0.9 mm) steel curtain for enhanced strength and rigidity. This model combines the neat, flush aesthetics of the 'Continental' build style with the simplicity of a single phase 240V electric tube motor, making it an ideal choice for higher security commercial and industrial applications where usage is low to medium but physical robustness is a priority.

The defining feature of this model is the 'Continental' specification, where the aluminium guide rails and endplates are connected to form a cohesive, flush-edged frame. This design not only improves the visual appeal but also facilitates easier installation, particularly for 'in-between' or reveal fixes where a clean finish is required.

Motor and Operation

Powered by a high-quality single phase 240V electric tube motor, this shutter offers reliable, straightforward operation without the need for complex 3-phase wiring. The motor is fully concealed within the barrel assembly, maintaining the clean lines of the door while protecting the drive mechanism from dust and debris.

Tube motors are designed for low to medium frequency use (typically 10 - 20 cycles per day), making them perfect for secure storage, workshops, or retail outlets that do not require constant access. For larger openings or more intensive use, 3-phase industrial motor options may be more suitable. As standard, this model includes an internal manual override facility, allowing the door to be wound open or closed via a crank handle in the event of a power cut. The override exit is discreetly integrated under the motor side of the curtain.

Curtain Construction - 20 Gauge Upgrade

The key upgrade on this model is the curtain material. While standard shutters use 22 gauge steel, this door is built with a 20 gauge (0.9 mm) galvanised steel profile. This thicker steel significantly increases the curtain's resistance to impact, forced entry attempts, and wind pressure, while also allowing the door to span wider openings than the lighter standard model.

Key Features

  • Build Style: Continental (flush integrated guide & endplate system)
  • Curtain Material: 20 gauge (0.9 mm) galvanised steel - thicker and stronger than standard
  • Operation: Single Phase 240V Electric Tube Motor
  • Usage: Low to medium daily cycles (approx. 10-20 ops)
  • Security: Enhanced physical security due to thicker steel profile
  • Manual Override: Internal winding handle facility included as standard
  • Finish: Galvanised as standard; Powder coat (RAL/BS) and Plastisol options available

Application and Suitability

This upgraded shutter is designed for environments where standard security may not be enough, but a full heavy-duty industrial door is not required. It bridges the gap by offering increased strength in a compact, neat package. Suitable applications include:

  • High-value retail shopfronts requiring stronger physical deterrents
  • Commercial units in more exposed or higher-risk locations
  • Larger width openings (up to approx. 6000 mm) where 22 gauge slats may be too flexible
  • Industrial facilities needing a balance of security and aesthetics

Note: While the 20 gauge curtain offers greater strength, please verify that a 240V tube motor is suitable for the specific size and weight of your door, especially for very tall openings. For shutters over 2.8 m high requiring manual-only operation, or for very high-cycle environments, please consult our technical team for alternative motor specifications.

Measure

Measuring Guide for SeceuroDoor 75 Roller Shutters

Understanding Ordering Dimensions

The measuring, pricing and ordering dimensions for any electric roller shutter door with an electric tube motor drive are based on the OVERALL WIDTH and OVERALL HEIGHT, including the guides for the width and endplates for the height. This measurement principle applies regardless of whether the door is a Continental or Traditional build arrangement.

Key Measurement Rules:

  • OVERALL WIDTH (including guides) = Ordering Width
  • OVERALL HEIGHT (including endplates) = Ordering Height

See diagram below for visual reference.

Continental vs Traditional Build Differences

The Traditional build roller door arrangement uses heavier duty steel guides with steel angle sections in the setup, whereas the Continental build roller doors use aluminium guides. Traditional build doors can generally accommodate larger sizes and offer more adaptation options with the guides and track fixing angles, particularly useful when dealing with more challenging installation scenarios.

Both door build types have the guides, endplate and optional roll hood cover fitted within the dimensions of the external endplate dimensions.

Important Height Considerations

The endplate and hood cover size will vary depending on the height of the door, so please be aware to check the drive-through height and endplate size if your dimensions are critical. Always allow for the physical size of the rolled curtain and endplate assembly when calculating available headroom.

Installation Methods

Face Fit - Behind the Opening

Most roller shutter doors are installed to the inside face of the aperture. In a perfect scenario, your daylight opening dimensions are the space between the guides and underneath the endplate dimensions. However, it is important to note that any roller shutter will always have a 'hang down' when opened fully, making the final drive-through height slightly less than the height of the guides.

This hang down is normal and varies on different models depending on the curtain specification and roll size. If your opening drive-through height is critical, please speak to us first to determine the best height to order for your specific application.

Reveal Fit - Between the Opening

Some roller shutter doors are installed between the aperture opening (reveal fit), and this is where the electric tube motor roller door arrangement works particularly well, as all components are positioned inboard from the ordering dimensions, creating a neat flush finish.

You can install any roller shutter door between an opening, but please note that industrial motor-driven models may require some additional steelwork or sub-framing to make them fit between the reveal properly and securely.
