SeceuroDoor 75 Traditional Electric Tube Motor Roller Shutter
The SeceuroDoor 75 Traditional is a high quality, industrial 'traditional' style steel roller shutter door designed for low to medium use in commercial and industrial environments, powered by a single phase 240 V electric tube motor for straightforward, reliable operation. The compact motor is fully contained inside the barrel, keeping the mechanism protected and the appearance neat, with only limit settings and power/control cabling visible on the installation side.
Electric tube motor shutters are best suited to openings with limited daily operations, as tube motors are not rated for very high duty cycles. Typical applications include factory units, farm buildings, workshops and warehouses where usage is generally in the region of 10–20 cycles per day, providing dependable access without the cost and complexity of three‑phase drive systems. For very high, very wide or intensive‑use openings, alternative heavier‑duty motor options are recommended because standard 240 V tube motors have limited pulling force over larger sizes.
This model is supplied with an internal manual override facility as standard, allowing the door to be wound open or closed from inside in the event of a power failure. The override drive is integrated with the motor on the chosen motor side, with an under‑curtain engagement point for the winding handle for quick and safe emergency operation. The curtain rolls up into a compact coil above the opening, requiring minimal headroom and leaving internal wall and ceiling space largely free for lighting, services and storage.
Quality and Compliance
All SeceuroDoor products are fully CE or UKCA marked, ensuring compliance with the latest UK and European regulations for powered doors and shutters in commercial use. Approved LPCB‑tested security variants are also available where enhanced, independently certified resistance is required (subject to specific configuration and size).
Doors are manufactured in the UK within ISO9001 and ISO14001 certified facilities, supporting consistent quality management and environmental performance. Every door is made to measure as standard for a precise fit, avoiding the compromises of stock‑sized shutters and improving both security and weather protection at no additional surcharge.
High quality components are used throughout, including robust steel guide channels, precision‑engineered tubular motors and durable bottom rails, to provide a long service life with minimal maintenance when correctly specified and installed. A wide choice of compatible control options – from simple key switches to group or remote control systems – can be configured to suit the site and user requirements (availability may vary by installation).
Curtain and Construction
The curtain is manufactured from a strong single skin galvanised steel profile, providing a durable, impact‑resistant solution suitable for medium security office, commercial and industrial applications. The scrolled 75 mm slat profile offers an excellent combination of strength, quiet operation and compact roll diameter for efficient use of headroom.
Curtain Gauge Options
Standard curtain options include 18 g (price on application), 20 g and 22 g gauge steel to match performance and budget requirements, with heavier gauges increasing resistance to impact and forced attack. Vision or perforated slat sections can often be incorporated as an option on related SeceuroDoor 75 variants to provide up to around 25% vision when back‑lit, ideal for retail or display environments while maintaining security (availability dependent on specification).
Finishes and Colours
As standard, curtains and guides are supplied in galvanised steel for a tough, corrosion‑resistant industrial finish. For projects requiring corporate branding or improved visual integration with the building, the shutter can be powder coated to almost any standard RAL or BS colour, subject to quotation and lead time.
In addition to standard powder coating, a range of plastisol‑coated finishes is also available, offering a thicker, textured coating with excellent durability in demanding environments. Matching or contrasting colours can be specified for curtain, guides and bottom rail to achieve the desired aesthetic.
Operation Options
Electric Tube Motor (Standard)
The default specification is single phase 240 V electric tube motor operation, providing push‑button convenience and compatibility with a wide range of control devices. Safety features appropriate to the configuration, such as hold‑to‑run controls or safety edge systems, should be included to meet current standards and site risk assessments.
Manual Spring and Lock (Alternative)
Where power is not available, or the shutter will only be used occasionally, a manual spring‑and‑lock version is available as an alternative, making use of a counterbalanced torsion spring and bottom‑rail lock for secure manual operation. This manual option is not available on shutters over approximately 2.8 m high due to the weight and safe handling limits of larger doors.

Motor Control Options
The electric tube motor can be operated via two primary control methods, allowing you to select the best balance of convenience, safety, and cost for your specific application:
1. Hold-to-Run (Deadman) Control – Standard
The most basic and cost-effective method is an internal wall-mounted push button station with hold-to-run logic. You stand and hold the button firmly for the duration of the opening or closing cycle. With this method, no safety edge or beam systems are legally required, keeping the costs to a minimum and electrical components simple.
Note: This method requires alternative access to the building (e.g., a personnel door) as the control is internal.
2. Remote Control Operation
For greater convenience, a wall-mounted control panel with wireless remote control capability is available. This package typically includes:
- Control Panel: Wall-mounted unit with integrated receiver
- Handsets: Supplied with 2 remote control handsets as standard (additional handsets available on request)
- Safety Edge System: Wireless safety edge detection built into the bottom T-rail section to instantly stop if an obstacle is met during operation
- Additional Safety (Recommended): If the door opens onto a public pathway, road, or high-traffic area, we strongly recommend adding infra-red photo beams to further enhance safety by detecting obstructions before contact is made
Finish and Colour Options
The SeceuroDoor 75 Traditional curtain is available in three primary finish types to suit aesthetic requirements and budget:
Galvanised Steel (Standard)
As standard and used by many customers, the steel curtain can be supplied in its natural galvanised steel finish. This is a robust, industrial finish used widely where function is the priority over colour matching, depending on the roller door location.
Powder Coated
For corporate branding or architectural blending, the curtain can be polyester powder coated to almost any RAL or BS colour. This process provides a durable, high-quality finish that is applied to both sides of the slat, ensuring the door looks the same from the inside and outside.
Plastisol Coated
A high-performance textured vinyl coating available in a range of standard colours. This finish offers excellent weather resistance and durability. Please note that Plastisol material typically features the coloured finish on the external face only, with a standard off-white internal paint finish.
Custom Colour Options
We can offer the door in special colours other than those shown in our online shop options. You can also mix and match the guides, hood cover and curtain colours if required. Please email enquiries@samsondoors.co.uk or call 01933 448 850 for details and bespoke pricing.

Measuring Guide for SeceuroDoor 75 Traditional Roller Shutters
Understanding Ordering Dimensions
The measuring, pricing and ordering dimensions for any electric roller shutter door with an electric tube motor drive are based on the OVERALL WIDTH and OVERALL HEIGHT, including the guides for the width and endplates for the height. This measurement principle applies regardless of whether the door is a Continental or Traditional build arrangement.
Key Measurement Rules:
- OVERALL WIDTH (including guides) = Ordering Width
- OVERALL HEIGHT (including endplates) = Ordering Height
See diagram below for visual reference.
Traditional vs Continental Build Differences
The Traditional build roller door arrangement uses heavier duty steel guides with steel angle sections in the setup, whereas the Continental build roller doors use aluminium guides. Traditional build doors can generally accommodate larger sizes and offer more adaptation options with the guides and track fixing angles, particularly useful when dealing with more challenging installation scenarios.
Both door build types have the guides, endplate and optional roll hood cover fitted within the dimensions of the external endplate dimensions.
Important Height Considerations
The endplate and hood cover size will vary depending on the height of the door, so please be aware to check the drive-through height and endplate size if your dimensions are critical. Always allow for the physical size of the rolled curtain and endplate assembly when calculating available headroom.
Installation Methods
Face Fit - Behind the Opening
Most roller shutter doors are installed to the inside face of the aperture. In a perfect scenario, your daylight opening dimensions are the space between the guides and underneath the endplate dimensions. However, it is important to note that any roller shutter will always have a 'hang down' when opened fully, making the final drive-through height slightly less than the height of the guides.
This hang down is normal and varies on different models depending on the curtain specification and roll size. If your opening drive-through height is critical, please speak to us first to determine the best height to order for your specific application.
Reveal Fit - Between the Opening
Some roller shutter doors are installed between the aperture opening (reveal fit), and this is where the electric tube motor roller door arrangement works particularly well, as all components are positioned inboard from the ordering dimensions, creating a neat flush finish.
You can install any roller shutter door between an opening, but please note that industrial motor-driven models may require some additional steelwork or sub-framing to make them fit between the reveal properly and securely.
