Available in made to measure sizes up to 6000mm wide and 2700mm high, this version provides comprehensive physical security for substantial glass door systems while maintaining all the proven quality and functionality of the full SeceuroGuard range.

You can customise the system to suit your exact requirements with either a single or double sash option. Single sash arrangements stack neatly to one side, while double sash configurations divide in the centre and stack to both sides of the opening, providing a beautifully balanced appearance that is ideal for wider bi fold installations. Additionally, the gate lattice is available in either the traditional 'X' lattice design or the softer 'S' lattice design, both offered at the exact same price.

This configuration offers exceptional installation flexibility, with both between aperture (reveal) and face fix mounting options available depending on your site conditions. To perfectly complement your property, the SeceuroGuard grille is available in an extensive range of 122 standard colours to coordinate with almost any scheme. Application
The SeceuroGuard 1000 is suitable for physical security of bi-folding door installations up to 6000mm wide and 2700mm high, with this configuration available in single or double sash arrangements to suit customer requirements. This application-specific solution is ideal for both domestic and commercial premises where bi-folding doors create substantial openings that need protection whilst maintaining excellent visibility and natural light.

FOR DOMESTIC PREMISES
Elegant good looks with a heart of steel - the SeceuroGuard 1000 Retractable Security Gate System combines a classic appearance with strength, making it an ideal security choice for bi-folding door installations throughout the home. The high quality components used in manufacturing make this one of the best security grilles for bi-folding door applications in the UK market. It is strong and yet subtle in appearance with elegant profile sections.

Designed to keep intruders out while letting maximum light in, they are perfect for:
  • Living room bi-folding doors opening onto gardens and terraces
  • Kitchen-dining area bi-fold installations
  • Conservatory and orangery bi-folding door systems
  • Home extension bi-fold openings
  • Garden room and outdoor living space bi-folds
  • Master bedroom suite bi-folding doors to balconies
  • Basement level bi-fold doors to courtyards
  • Any substantial bi-folding door opening requiring security
  •

Gates can be left locked with bi-folding doors open to provide ventilation without a security issue. Perfect in the summer months when you want to enjoy open-plan living whilst maintaining security.
When not in use these retractable gates are surprisingly unobtrusive. They can disappear neatly to the sides of the opening, and a pelmet can be used to conceal the top track for a seamless finish.

The collapsible security gates are configured for bi-folding door openings up to 6000mm wide and 2700mm high, accommodating the vast majority of residential bi-fold installations. Customers can choose between single sash (stacking to one side) or double sash (stacking to both sides) depending on their bi-fold configuration and personal preference.

Single sash arrangements are ideal for bi-folding doors where one side is more accessible or where architectural features on one side make double stacking impractical. Double sash configurations provide balanced aesthetics and are particularly suitable for very wide bi-fold installations where dividing the grille in the centre creates a more proportional appearance and reduces the stack-back depth on each side.

Installation flexibility is provided with options for between-aperture fitting (for recessed installations within the bi-fold frame reveal) or face-fix mounting (where insufficient reveal depth exists or where face mounting is architecturally preferred).

Essentially maintenance free, each SeceuroGuard 1000 is available in a range of powder coated colour options to complement your bi-folding door colour and décor, and can also be supplied with optional decorative 'S' Profile lattices instead of the standard X lattice design.

FOR COMMERCIAL PREMISES
Allowing maximum natural light into commercial premises, retractable gates fold to the sides of the bi-folding door opening when not required and can be concealed neatly to create a secure but pleasant working or retail environment.

Commercial premises, retail showrooms, hospitality venues and valuable equipment are safely protected by an exceptionally strong security barrier, manufactured from pre-galvanised rolled steel with multi point locking from a single key.

Offering security features which are particularly important for vulnerable bi-folding door installations that create large accessible openings, the SeceuroGuard 1000 ensures excellent barrier security. Whilst the top hung ultra-smooth carrier system and nylon coated steel bearings also ensure it is quick and easy to open and close. This configuration (up to 6000mm wide x 2700mm high) makes it perfect for:
  • Retail premises with bi-folding frontages
  • Restaurant and café bi-fold openings to outdoor dining areas
  • Bar and hospitality venue bi-folding doors
  • Hotel reception and function room bi-fold installations
  • Showroom bi-folding door systems
  • Leisure and sports facility bi-fold openings
  • Office bi-folding doors to terraces and balconies
  • Conference centre and event space bi-fold installations
  • Gallery and exhibition space bi-folding doors
  • Any commercial bi-folding door requiring substantial security
  •

The choice between single or double sash arrangements allows customers to select the most appropriate configuration for their specific installation. Single sash options are often preferred where access is required from one side or where architectural constraints favour single-sided stacking, whilst double sash arrangements provide symmetrical operation and are ideal for very wide bi-fold spans where a central division is aesthetically preferable and reduces individual stack-back requirements.

Installation versatility is a key feature, with between-aperture fitting suitable for recessed installations within the bi-fold reveal and face-fix mounting available where reveal depth is insufficient or where surface mounting is specified. This flexibility ensures the SeceuroGuard 1000 can be installed in virtually any bi-folding door configuration.

SeceuroGuard 1000 is essentially maintenance free and available in a broad range of optional powder coated colours to complement bi-folding door finishes and corporate styling. This is a perfect security product for bi-folding door applications and offers a truly high level of security without being cumbersome, whilst maintaining visibility and natural light penetration even across substantial openings.

The collapsible security gates offer the option to remove the bottom guide track from the opening and sashes may be hinged to swing to the side at 90° or up to 270° leaving bi-folding door thresholds free from obstruction. (The hinge aside option requires a folding bottom track).

Installation Parameters:
  • Maximum width: 6000mm
  • Maximum height: 2700mm
  • Sash options: Single sash (stacking to one side) or double sash (stacking to both sides)
  • Installation type: Between aperture or face-fix mounting

Installation

Installation Guidance for Large SeceuroGuard Security Grilles

Smaller grilles are simple to handle and install generally. It is only when the sizes and weights exceed single person handling that you require two or more people to assist and manoeuvre the components into place.

For optimal performance and warranty compliance, we strongly recommend professional installation by qualified security grille installers or tradesmen used to installing doors, windows, and other products requiring associated skills. SeceuroGuard grilles require precise measurement, secure substrate fixing, and correct assembly—particularly for the SR1 rated SeceuroGuard 1001 model where LPS 1175 certification validity depends entirely on the installation meeting LPCB requirements.

Installation Methods

The SeceuroGuard range offers three primary installation configurations to suit different architectural requirements:

  • Face Fixed with Bottom Track: Complete framework mounted to the wall surface with a floor mounted bottom track.
  • Face Fixed to Aperture: Framework fitted around the opening perimeter with additional support profiles.
  • Reveal Fixed Within Aperture: Compact installation within the window or door recess.

Ordering Dimensions - Critical Information

SeceuroGuard grilles are always ordered using the Overall Width and Overall Height measurements, which must include the complete framework and sash assembly.

  • For Face Fixed Installations: Add the relevant dimensions for side frames, top track, and bottom track, plus any reinforcement sections required to calculate your final ordering sizes.
  • For Reveal Fixed Installations: Measure the internal aperture dimensions—the grille framework is manufactured to fit exactly within this space.

Pre-Installation Requirements

Essential Tools & Equipment:

  • Spirit level and sturdy measuring tape
  • Hammer drill with appropriate masonry bits (for brick/block) or metal drill bits (for steel frames)
  • Socket set and spanners
  • Screwdriver set (Phillips and flathead)
  • Safety glasses and dust mask
  • Stepladder or secure access platform

Substrate Assessment & Secure Fixing Requires:

  • Brick/Block Walls: Minimum 100mm embedment depth using resin anchors or heavy duty expansion bolts.
  • Steel Frames: Through bolting with the appropriate grade metal fixings.
  • Timber Frames: Coach screws fixed into structural timber (note: this is not suitable for all applications or SR1 ratings).
  • Weak Substrates: May require additional reinforcement—always consult a structural engineer if unsure.

Installation Process Overview

1. Site Preparation

  • Verify the opening dimensions perfectly match your order specifications.
  • Check the substrate condition and ensure it has sufficient load bearing capacity.
  • Ensure adequate clearance for the sash operation and the bunch width (approximately 15% of the overall width).
  • Clear the work area completely and protect any flooring or surrounding surfaces.

2. Framework Assembly

  • Unpack all components and verify them against your delivery note.
  • Pre assemble track sections if they are supplied in multiple pieces (required for widths over 4000mm).
  • Check that all fixings, brackets, and required components are present.

3. Positioning & Levelling

  • Position the top track using temporary supports.
  • Use a high quality spirit level to ensure perfect horizontal alignment—this is critical for smooth operation.
  • Mark all fixing positions clearly through the pre drilled holes in the framework.
  • For face fixed installations, ensure the fixing frame is completely plumb and square.

4. Secure Fixing

  • Drill pilot holes to the correct depth for your specific substrate type.
  • Install fixings progressively, continuously checking your alignment after tightening each fixing.
  • Torque fixings to the manufacturer's specifications—do not over tighten.
  • Ensure minimum fixing centres are maintained (typically between 400mm and 600mm).

5. Sash Installation

  • Attach the sash carrier wheels to the top track.
  • Carefully guide the heavy lattice sash into the track system.
  • For larger installations, sections may require on site joining with the provided fixing plates and bolts.

6. Locking Mechanism

  • Install the lock posts and slam posts according to your chosen configuration.
  • Adjust the multi point locking mechanism to ensure a smooth, overlapping engagement.
  • Test the lock operation fully through a complete cycle.

7. Final Adjustments & Testing

  • Check that the sash slides smoothly across the full width of the opening.
  • Adjust the carrier wheels if any binding or resistance occurs.
  • Verify the locking engagement is secure.
  • Test the bottom track functionality (if a folding or removable option was specified).

Installation Considerations

For SeceuroGuard 1001 SR1 Rated Installations:

  • Must comply strictly with all LPS 1175 installation requirements.
  • All fixings must meet the specified security standards.
  • An installation certificate may be required to satisfy insurance purposes.
  • The substrate must provide adequate resistance—certification is entirely void if the installation is compromised.

Hinge Aside & Folding Track Options:

  • Special installation procedures apply for these optional configurations—always refer to the specific instructions provided with these upgrades.

Common Installation Challenges:

  • Out of Square Openings: May require packing or shimming—always check your diagonals before final fixing.
  • Uneven Floors: Particularly affects bottom track alignment—may require floor preparation or levelling first.
  • Restricted Access: Consider your installation sequence carefully for narrow doorways or difficult access points.
  • Overlapping Windows/Doors: Plan the sash stacking location in advance to avoid any operational conflicts with existing handles or frames.

Post-Installation

  • Remove all protective coverings and transit packaging.
  • Clean the lattice and tracks thoroughly with a mild detergent to remove installation dust.

Measure

How to Measure for the SeceuroGuard 1000 on Bi-Folding Doors

The SWS SeceuroGuard 1000 retractable security grille is a made-to-measure system, ideal for protecting bi-folding doors up to 6000mm wide and 2700mm high. Follow these steps to ensure a perfect fit for your installation.

1. Choose Your Installation Type

Before taking your tape measure to the opening, decide how your security grille will be fitted:

  • Reveal Fit (Between Aperture): The grille sits inside the structural opening.
  • Face Fit (Surface Mounted): The grille is fixed to the inside face of the wall, surrounding the opening. Your measurements must be taken from the exact fixing position rather than the door leaves.

2. Measuring the Width and Height

  • Take three measurements: Measure the width at the top, middle, and bottom of the opening. Measure the height at the left, centre, and right from the finished floor level to the underside of the lintel.
  • Use the smallest dimensions: Always use the smallest width and height measurements as your reference size to accommodate any structural variations or uneven brickwork.
  • Ensure a level surface: For the smooth-running carrier system to operate reliably, the bottom track must be fitted to a flat, level surface.

3. Allow for the Stacking (Bunching) Area

When retracted, the grille sashes will take up space. You must account for this to ensure the bunched grille does not obstruct your bi-fold door handles or limit your thoroughfare.

  • Stacking size: Allow approximately 15% of the overall width for the retracted bunching area.
  • Single or Double Sash: Decide if you want the grille to bunch to one side (single sash) or split in the middle and bunch to both sides (double sash).
  • Hinge-Aside Option: If you specify the hinge-aside option to pivot the stacked grille out of the opening, note that this requires a folding bottom track.

4. Considerations for Larger Openings

For extensive bi-fold door spans, particularly widths over 4000mm, track sections may be supplied in multiple pieces for easier transport and on-site assembly. Please ensure you allow suitable access for installation.
