The SeceuroShield 38 is a premium electric security shutter engineered to protect vulnerable openings with a strong, compact, made-to-measure design. It combines an attractive finish with the added rigidity of an extruded aluminium curtain, delivering a dependable physical barrier for everyday security in domestic, retail and commercial settings.

Ideal where you want smooth, effortless operation, the electric SeceuroShield 38 is powered by a tubular motor housed neatly inside the axle, allowing the shutter to glide up and down at the touch of a button.

Strength & Compact Design

The SeceuroShield 38 uses a double-skin extruded aluminium slat, designed to provide a strong, rigid curtain while still coiling tightly for a neat shutter box appearance. The slat is a nominal 38mm profile with a nominal thickness of 9mm, and the curtain weight is approximately 8.0kg/m².

• Security performance: Suited to high-security domestic sites and medium-security office/commercial use (subject to aperture size and risk).
• Space-saving fit: A popular choice for shopfronts and single garage doors where headroom is restricted.
• Coverage: Spans widths up to 4000mm and heights up to 5000mm (subject to overall weight limits and box size capacity).

Electric Operation & Control

For safe day-to-day use, electric shutters are typically supplied with a hold-to-run wall switch as standard, so the user maintains pressure while the shutter moves. Alternative control options can be specified, including Somfy RTS (radio) motors for smart, individual or grouped control.

• Manual override option: A manual override can be specified to allow operation from inside the building in the event of a power failure (must be selected at order stage).
• Safety compliance: Electrically operated shutters must be installed and commissioned in line with CE/UKCA obligations and the applicable standards.

Installation Versatility

The SeceuroShield 38 can be fitted both internally and externally, and is available as built-on or built-in to suit the building and the visual finish required. Guide rails are extruded aluminium with a box section for reinforcement and brush seals for smoother operation; H30 guides are supplied as standard, with other guide options available on request (including higher-security H40S where required).

To ensure a seamless integration with your property's exterior, the SeceuroShield 38 is available in five standard stock colours at no extra cost:

• Internal Security: Often used behind glass to secure high-value stock rooms or office equipment without altering the external facade of the building.

Security Upgrade: SeceuroShield 3801

For applications where a specific security rating is required by insurers or architects, the shutter is available as the SeceuroShield 3801. This model is visually identical to the standard 38 but features enhanced locking and installation specifications.

• Certified Rating: Independently tested and approved to LPS 1175 SR1 (Security Rating 1). This certifies resistance against opportunist attacks using bodily force and basic hand tools.
• Secured by Design (SBD): A Police Preferred Specification. The 3801 meets the rigorous standards set by UK Police to "design out crime," making it the ideal choice for new builds and high-risk residential or commercial sites.
• Installation Requirements: To achieve the SR1 rating, the shutter must be installed in accordance with specific guidelines (e.g., using bullet locks or auto-locks) and within tested size parameters.

Hospitality & Kiosks

The reliability of the electric motor makes this model perfect for environments with frequent daily cycling.

• Bars & Serveries: Ideal for securing bar counters in clubs, pubs, and restaurants. The electric operation removes the health and safety risks associated with staff manually lifting heavy shutters over wide counters.
• Kiosks & Cabinets: Secure merchandise displays, ticket booths, and reception desks efficiently.

Motor & Operation

• Motor Type: Powered by a high-quality single-phase tubular motor housed within the axle assembly. Requires a standard 240V power supply (13 amp fused spur recommended).
• Standard Control: Supplied as standard with a Somfy Inteo Inis Uno single pole switch.
  • Safety Function: This is a "Hold-to-Run" switch, meaning the user must maintain pressure on the switch for the duration of the travel. This ensures the operator has full view of the shutter during movement to prevent accidents.
  • Mounting: Supplied with a surface-mount box as standard. Flush-mounting boxes are available upon request.
• Handing (Side of Operation): The motor location is defined as Left Hand or Right Hand as viewed from inside looking out. The power cable will exit the headbox on this side.

Manual Override (Emergency Operation)

Essential for Single Exits: If the shutter is installed over a doorway that serves as the only means of exit, a Manual Override system is legally required.

• Function: This facility allows the shutter to be raised or lowered manually using a crank handle in the event of a mains power failure.
• Specification: If selected, the motor is upgraded to include a gearbox accessible via the underside of the headbox.

Guide Rails

The shutter curtain runs within extruded aluminium guide rails, which are fitted with brush seals to reduce friction and noise.

• H30 (Standard): 60mm wide x 27mm deep. Supplied as the default guide rail suitable for the majority of internal and external installations.
• H17 (Compact): 60mm wide x 17mm deep. A slimmer profile available on request. Note: Strictly for internal use only due to lower wind load resistance.
• H25 (Compact): 60mm wide x 25mm deep. Available on request for installations with restricted side room.
• H40/S (High Security): 70mm wide x 27mm deep. Recommended for higher security applications or wider spans.
  • Wind Locks: When H40/S guides are specified, the shutter curtain is fitted with wind end locks. These physical clips prevent the curtain from being forced out of the guide rails during a physical attack or high winds.

Curtain & Colours

• Slat Profile: 38mm double-skinned extruded aluminium.
• Standard Colours: White (RAL 9016), Black (RAL 9005), Cream (RAL 1015), Brown (RAL 8014), and Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016) are available at no extra cost.
• Bespoke Colours: A wide range of alternative RAL and BS powder-coat finishes are available at an additional cost. These can be selected via our online shop configurator.

SeceuroShield Warranty Details

SeceuroShield products are backed by a parts-only warranty from Samson Doors and SWS UK:

• 2 years for general product components.
• 5 years for motors and controls.
• 12 months for replacement electrical parts, or the remainder of the original warranty—whichever is longer.

This warranty applies only when the product is installed, maintained, and operated according to SWS UK guidelines.

What the Warranty Covers: SWS UK will repair or replace any part found to have a manufacturing defect during the warranty period. Labour costs and other associated expenses are not included.

What the Warranty Does Not Cover:

• Labour, call-out fees, transport, or other consequential costs.
• Cosmetic marks or blemishes not visible from 3 metres in natural light.
• Damage or faults caused by:
  • Incorrect installation or failure to follow instructions.
  • Poor or improper maintenance.
  • Incorrect use or unauthorized modifications.
  • Normal wear and tear, accidental or malicious damage.
  • Impact damage, scratches, dents, or abrasions.
  • Use of non-SWS UK parts or unauthorized repairs.
  • Structural issues with mounting surfaces.
  • Attempts to reduce operating clearances.
  • External factors like extreme weather, fire, water, chemicals, or bird droppings.
  • Electrical faults or surges in the customer’s power supply.
• Rust or corrosion for products installed within 500 metres of the sea or saltwater.
• Consumables such as fuses, light bulbs, or batteries.
• Any indirect, special, or consequential loss or damage.

Ordering dimensions are the Overall Width including the guides chosen x Overall Height including the hood size.
