Superior Thermal Performance with Full Aluminium Construction

The Hormann ALR F42 Thermo represents the pinnacle of thermally efficient industrial sectional door design, combining full aluminium construction with integrated thermal break technology. This advanced door system delivers exceptional thermal insulation performance whilst providing the lightweight, corrosion-resistant benefits of all-aluminium construction, making it ideal for temperature-controlled facilities, cold storage applications, and premium industrial premises.

The 42mm-thick aluminium sections feature sophisticated thermal break technology, creating a discontinuity in the metal framework that dramatically reduces heat transfer through the door structure. This thermal separation prevents cold bridging, maintaining internal temperature stability and minimising energy consumption in heated or refrigerated facilities.

High-Performance Thermal Specifications

The ALR F42 Thermo achieves impressive thermal insulation values, with U-values as low as 1.6 W/(m²·K) for a standard 5000 x 5000mm door size. This exceptional thermal efficiency makes the door suitable for applications where temperature control is critical, including food processing facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturing, cold storage warehouses, and logistics centres handling temperature-sensitive goods.

The aluminium profile sections with thermal break technology maintain structural integrity whilst significantly outperforming standard aluminium sections without thermal separation. The insulated panel infill options further enhance thermal performance, creating a comprehensive barrier against heat transfer.

All-Aluminium Construction Benefits

Full aluminium construction delivers numerous practical advantages for industrial applications. Aluminium's natural corrosion resistance eliminates rust concerns, making these doors ideal for coastal locations, chemical processing environments, and facilities exposed to moisture or aggressive atmospheric conditions. The lightweight properties of aluminium enable smoother operation with reduced stress on operators and hardware components, extending service life and reducing maintenance requirements.

The material's inherent stability maintains dimensional accuracy over extended service periods, preventing warping, twisting, or degradation that can affect door alignment and sealing performance. Aluminium's non-combustible properties also provide enhanced fire safety characteristics compared to composite alternatives.

Substantial Opening Capabilities

The ALR F42 Thermo accommodates exceptionally large opening dimensions, with maximum width capacity of 8000mm and maximum height of 7500mm. These substantial dimensions make the door suitable for large-format industrial applications including aircraft hangars, ship repair facilities, manufacturing plants, and logistics distribution centres requiring oversized vehicle access.

The self-supporting section design eliminates the need for intermediate vertical supports across standard opening widths, maintaining clean architectural lines and unobstructed access.

Advanced Glazing Options

For applications requiring vision panels or natural light transmission, the ALR F42 Thermo can incorporate glazed sections with thermal break glazing beads. These maintain the door's enhanced thermal performance whilst providing visibility and daylight benefits. Double-glazed or triple-glazed units can be specified to match overall door thermal performance requirements.

Robust Weather Protection

The door achieves excellent weather resistance performance, including Class 3 wind load resistance for stability in exposed locations, Class 3 watertightness (70 Pa) for effective rain exclusion, and Class 2 air permeability for minimal air infiltration. All-round perimeter sealing on four sides, combined with intermediate seals between door sections, creates comprehensive weather protection.

Optional ThermoFrame technology featuring PVC hard/soft seal combinations provides further enhancement of thermal and weather sealing performance, particularly beneficial for controlled environment applications.

Durable Surface Finishes

Standard anodised E6/C0 finish provides excellent corrosion resistance and a contemporary metallic appearance. RAL powder coating options enable colour-matched specification to complement corporate branding or architectural requirements, with a comprehensive colour palette available.

Comprehensive Safety Systems

Industrial-grade safety features ensure compliant operation. Finger trap protection prevents injuries at panel connections, side trap guards protect against edge entrapment, and spring break safeguards provide fail-safe protection against uncontrolled door descent. Electric operators include obstacle detection and emergency stop functionality.
