SeceuroShield 60 Electric Aluminium Roller Shutter Door
Proven Strength from Solid Aluminium Extrusion Technology
The SeceuroShield 60 is a robust, proven-performance electric roller shutter door specifically engineered for medium to large openings where strength, security and reliability are paramount. Unlike lightweight foam-filled roller shutters, the SeceuroShield 60 uses solid double-skinned extruded aluminium slats that deliver exceptional resistance to forced entry and physical impact—making it one of the strongest roller shutter solutions available in its size range.
Originally developed as a dedicated security shutter for commercial and retail premises, the SeceuroShield 60 has been refined over many years of proven UK service and is now offered as a complete electric roller door system for workshop entrances, commercial loading areas, storage facilities and industrial premises requiring both operational convenience and inherent security protection.
Double-Skinned Extruded Aluminium Construction
The fundamental strength of the SeceuroShield 60 comes from its curtain specification—55mm high double-skinned extruded aluminium slats with 14mm thickness. This is not a lightweight foam-filled profile: the solid extrusion process creates slats with exceptional structural rigidity and impact resistance that foam-filled alternatives simply cannot match.
- Slat Profile: Nominally 55mm high x 14mm thick double-skinned extruded aluminium
- Curtain Weight: 9kg per square metre—substantially heavier than foam-filled doors, providing superior security
- Construction Method: Solid extrusion technology (not roll-formed with foam injection)
- Security Performance: Exceptional resistance to crowbar attacks, impact damage and forced entry attempts
- Durability: Solid aluminium slats resist denting, puncturing and long-term deformation
The heavier curtain weight is a deliberate design choice that prioritises strength and security. Where standard roller shutters can be compromised by sustained attack or impact, the SeceuroShield 60's solid aluminium construction maintains its integrity under force, making it particularly suitable for unattended buildings, high-value storage and commercial premises in urban environments.
Continental Build Quality with Integrated Components
The SeceuroShield 60 employs a 'Continental' construction methodology where all major components and operational mechanics are neatly integrated within the endplates and guide rails—nothing protrudes beyond the specified width and height dimensions. This clean, professional installation provides several important advantages:
- Compact Installation: All motor, controls and mechanisms concealed within guide rails and endplate housing
- Protected Components: Internal mounting shields motor and drive system from weather, dirt and accidental damage
- Architectural Appearance: Clean lines without external operators, brackets or control boxes disrupting facade
- Reduced Damage Risk: No exposed components vulnerable to forklift trucks, vehicles or building traffic
The roll-formed aluminium shutter box is constructed in two sections (top and bottom) with the bottom section removable for simplified installation and future maintenance access. The box is chamfered at 45° and assembled on die-cast aluminium endplates for structural integrity and long-term dimensional stability.
240V Tubular Motor Drive System
The SeceuroShield 60 is powered by a high-quality 240V AC tubular motor installed within the curtain axle. This integrated drive system is designed for commercial applications with moderate daily usage:
- Motor Type: 240V tubular motor with integral limit switches and thermal cut-out protection
- Power Supply: Standard 240V AC, drawing 0.5–2.5 amps depending on door size
- Thermal Protection: Integrated thermal cut-out prevents motor overheating and damage
- Limit Switches: Factory-integrated travel limits for precise end-of-travel positioning
- Cable Supply: Complete with 2 metres of cable for electrical connection
- Daily Operations: Suitable for up to 30 open/close cycles per day (moderate commercial usage)
Important Usage Note: The 240V tubular motor is specified for commercial premises with moderate door usage—typically up to 30 operations daily. For higher-frequency applications (warehouses, loading bays, busy industrial sites), we recommend our industrial motor-driven roller door models with 3-phase direct drive systems capable of handling 100+ daily cycles.
Control Systems: Safety-First Operation
Standard 'Hold-to-Run' Control (Deadman System):
The SeceuroShield 60 is supplied as standard with a wall-mounted rocker switch for internal operation using 'hold-to-run' logic. This control method requires the operator to continuously press and hold the switch throughout the door's opening or closing cycle:
- Control Type: Wall-mounted rocker switch with Up/Down functions
- Operation Logic: Continuous pressure required (deadman control)—door stops when button is released
- Location: Must be positioned inside the building with full, unobstructed view of the curtain
- Safety Compliance: No additional safety devices (edges, photocells) legally required when operated in hold-to-run mode
- Electrical Connection: Requires provision of 13amp fused spur for installation
The hold-to-run control system is widely used on commercial roller shutters because it ensures the operator maintains constant awareness of the door's movement and can stop immediately if an obstruction appears. This control method meets UK safety regulations without additional expense for safety edges or photocell systems.
Optional External Controls:
For enhanced operational flexibility, external control options can be added to your SeceuroShield 60 specification:
- Key Switch Operation: External key-operated control mounted outside the building for convenient exterior operation without compromising internal security
- Remote Control Operation: Radio-controlled operation with handheld transmitters (requires safety edge detection system for compliance)
- Push Button Stations: Additional control points inside or outside the building
- Safety Edge System: Mandatory when using remote control or any impulse operation, providing obstruction detection during door closing
Manual Override for Emergency Operation:
For doors installed on emergency exit routes or where power failure operation is essential, a manual override system can be specified. This allows the door to be manually opened and closed during power outages or electrical faults, ensuring uninterrupted building access for life safety and operational continuity.
Made-to-Measure Precision Manufacturing
Every SeceuroShield 60 roller shutter is manufactured to your exact requirements at no additional cost. This is not a "near-fit" standard size system—each door is precision-engineered to the millimetre for perfect integration with your building opening:
- Bespoke Sizing: Manufactured to exact width and height specified (no size increments or approximations)
- No Extra Cost: Made-to-measure manufacturing included as standard—no surcharges for non-standard sizes
- Continental Sizing Method: Ordering dimensions are Overall Width and Overall Height (including guides and endplate/hood)
- Guide Width Allowance: Be aware of guide rail width on each side when calculating your required opening size
- Hood/Endplate Size: Box height is included in overall height dimension—select box size appropriate to door height
Understanding Overall Dimensions:
When ordering your SeceuroShield 60, your specified width and height dimensions include the guide rails and shutter box. For example, if you order a door 3000mm wide x 2500mm high, this is the complete installed dimension. The clear opening (the space through which vehicles or equipment pass) will be slightly smaller once you deduct the guide width each side and the box depth at the top.
Premium Powdercoat Colour Finishes
The SeceuroShield 60 is prefinished with high-quality powdercoat finishes applied to both sides of every slat, ensuring consistent colour appearance from inside and outside the building:
Standard Colours (Stock Availability):
- White - RAL 9016
- Brown - RAL 8014
- Light Ivory - RAL 1015
- Black - RAL 9005
Custom RAL & BS Colours:
Almost any RAL or BS paint colour reference can be specified for your SeceuroShield 60 curtain at additional cost. This flexibility allows the door to be coordinated with corporate branding, existing building colours or architectural design requirements. Custom colours are factory-applied using the same high-quality powdercoat process, ensuring long-lasting finish durability and colour retention.
Shutter Box Colours:
- White - RAL 9016
- Sepia Brown - RAL 8014
- Light Ivory - RAL 1015
- Black - RAL 9005
The powdercoat finish provides excellent UV resistance, weather protection and surface durability—critical for roller shutters exposed to UK weather conditions year-round. The electrostatically applied coating bonds to the aluminium surface at molecular level, resisting chipping, fading and corrosion far better than paint or enamel alternatives.
Size Capabilities & Box Selection
The SeceuroShield 60 covers an exceptional size range for a tubular motor-driven roller shutter:
Electric Operation (240V Tubular Motor):
- Minimum Width: 750mm (motor operational minimum)
- Maximum Width: 6000mm (including guide rails)
- Maximum Height: Variable according to selected box size—see specification tab for detailed sizing charts
- Box Sizes Available: 205mm, 250mm, 300mm or 350mm (selected according to door height and curtain roll diameter)
The choice of box size depends on the door height: as height increases, the curtain roll diameter increases, requiring a larger box to accommodate the rolled-up curtain. Your quotation will specify the appropriate box size for your selected dimensions, ensuring the door operates correctly with adequate clearance within the housing.

The endplate/hood cover size is dependant on the height of the door.
Up to 1800mm high including the endplates the endplate size is 205mm x 205mm
Up to 2400mm but with some variance depending on the width the endplates are 250mm x 250mm
Over 2400m high and up to around 4200mm (depending on width) the endplates are 300mm x 300mm
Maximum endplate sizes are 350mm x 350mm
We can provide exact drawings for you to check and sign before manufacturing commences or simply call or email us if you need to determine the exact headroom requirements.
be aware that if you dont have enough headroom to accomodate the full size of the endplates/hood cover it doesnt stop you having this type of door and all that happens is the drivethrough height is less when open, The full hood, which comes as standard, forms a fascia for any part of the potentially exposed sections.
