Secure. Stylish. Visible.

The SeceuroVision 38 is a “see-through” aluminium security shutter designed for commercial openings where you want a strong barrier without losing visibility or airflow. It uses an extruded aluminium vision slat to help protect shopfronts, counters and glazed areas while keeping interiors and displays clearly on show.

  • Choose your vision level: Punched slats deliver approximately 44% vision, while perforated slats deliver approximately 18% vision, letting you select the right balance of visibility, ventilation and security for the site.
  • Perforated option details: Perforated slats use 5 mm diameter holes (35 holes per 100 mm of slat) for a more diffused look that still maintains airflow.
  • Smart for retail visibility: Ideal where you want window displays and interior lighting visible out of hours, helping your frontage stay active even when closed.
  • Flexible curtain design: If you only need a vision band, SeceuroVision 38 can be combined with solid SeceuroShield 38 slats (solid slats are used within the shutter box, and a small section may be visible at the top).
  • Wider openings possible (selected designs): If 4 or fewer punched slats, or 10 or fewer perforated slats are required in a SeceuroShield 38 built-on shutter, the maximum width can increase to 4000 mm.
  • In-line or brick bond: Shutters are supplied with an in-line pattern as standard, with brick bond available as a surcharge and typically requiring more manufacturing time.

If you’re not sure whether punched or perforated slats are best for your application, tell us what level of visibility and ventilation you need and we’ll help specify the most suitable configuration.

Description

SeceuroVision 38 – Punched or Perforated Vented Security Shutters

Secure. Stylish. Visible.

The SeceuroVision 38 is the vented, vision version of the SeceuroShield 38 aluminium security shutter, designed for applications where security, airflow and through-vision must all work together. Using either punched or perforated extruded aluminium slats, it provides a strong yet visually open curtain that is ideal for retail frontages, internal counters and commercial windows where displays and internal lighting need to remain visible out of hours.

As part of the proven SeceuroShield 38 range, this model benefits from a compact, tight-coiling curtain and small box size, making it especially suitable where headroom is restricted or where a discreet façade is important. The robust extruded profile offers far greater strength and longevity than foam-filled alternatives, helping to deter opportunistic attack while still allowing natural light and air movement through the opening.

Depending on the level of visibility and airflow required, the curtain can be specified with punched slats (up to 45% vision) or perforated slats (approximately 18% vision). Punched vision slats are 100 mm wide by 20 mm high with a rounded edge at each end, producing a clean, contemporary appearance well suited to modern shopfronts and branded environments.

Why Choose the SeceuroVision 38?

  • Visible yet secure: Maintain clear views of illuminated displays, merchandise or interior areas while providing a physical barrier that helps to prevent forced entry and vandalism.
  • Effective ventilation: The open punched or perforated slats allow significant airflow, making this shutter ideal for serveries, reception counters, retail units with refrigeration, and areas where heat build-up behind glazing is a concern.
  • Flexible curtain design: Vision slats can be used through the full height of the curtain or combined with solid SeceuroShield 38 slats to create partial-vision zones – for example, solid at low level for stock concealment, with vision at eye level for product display.
  • Compact built-on box: The tight roll formed by the 38 mm slats results in a small headbox, helping the shutter blend unobtrusively into existing façades and under soffits or lintels.
  • Colour and branding options: Supplied in 4 standard colours or powder coated to almost any RAL/BS shade to coordinate with corporate branding or surrounding cladding.
  • Operational choice: Available with spring and lock, rod crank or electric operation, including radio-controlled motors and group control options for multi-shutter installations.
  • Design flexibility on width: Where only a small number of vented slats are required (4 or fewer punched slats, or 10 or fewer perforated slats) the maximum shutter width can be increased up to 4000 mm, making it suitable for wider openings with targeted vision bands.

Ideal Applications

  • High-street shopfronts and display windows requiring “open for viewing, closed for access” security.
  • Shopping centre kiosks, retail counters and internal concessions where air circulation is important.
  • Bar and servery shutters in hospitality environments, combining stock protection with evening visibility.
  • Office reception areas and glazed partitions where a secure night barrier is needed without a “blank” frontage.
  • Any commercial opening where solar gain reduction, ventilation and after-hours visibility are desirable.

Application

Applications & Typical Use Cases

The SeceuroVision 38 vented security shutter is chosen wherever a strong physical barrier is needed but the opening must remain visually open and well ventilated. Its punched or perforated slat design makes it particularly suitable for busy commercial environments where merchandise display, brand presence and internal lighting should remain visible even when the premises are closed.

  • High-street shopfronts and display windows: Maintain an attractive, “open for viewing” frontage outside trading hours, allowing passers‑by to see stock and promotional displays while the entrance and glazing remain protected.
  • Shopping centre kiosks and concessions: Provide an airy, secure enclosure for counters and island units where good sightlines and airflow are essential, and where solid shutters would look too heavy or closed-in.
  • Bars, serveries and food counters: Ideal above counters where heat, steam or refrigeration are present, combining secure closure with high levels of ventilation to help control temperature and reduce condensation build‑up on glazing.
  • Office receptions and internal partitions: Create secure out‑of‑hours barriers for reception desks, waiting areas or internal shop-in-shop spaces without blocking borrowed light or making areas feel enclosed.
  • Glazed corridors and atria: Use as a night-time security line across mall walkways or corridor openings, retaining visibility for CCTV coverage and emergency way‑finding while controlling access.

In many of these settings the SeceuroVision 38 can be specified with full‑height vision, or configured with only a band of punched or perforated slats in key viewing zones – for example, at eye level in a shopfront – while the remainder of the curtain uses solid SeceuroShield 38 slats to conceal stock or back‑of‑house areas.

Operation & Security

Security Features

Automatic Locking: Standard shutters lock automatically at the top when fully lowered.
Tamper-Resistant: The bottom section of the shutterbox is riveted after installation, and fixing screwheads are rendered unusable and concealed behind cover caps.
Cill Protection: An optional 30 x 20 angle can be fixed onto the cill for added security.

Operation Options:

Swivel Belt Winder (For shutters up to 15kg): A 14mm wide grey belt is pulled to open the shutter and coils into the winder. External shutters include a guide tube to protect the belt through the building wall.

Geared Belt Winder (For shutters between 15kg and 25kg): Features a 1:3 ratio with a removable handle for belt operation.

Rod Crank Operation (For shutters up to 25kg): Incorporates a 1500mm long geared rod crank handle that hangs vertically and secures into a clip when not in use. The gear is installed in the box, and the gear ratio varies with shutter weight.

Spring Loaded: A counterbalance spring in the axle ensures controlled raising and lowering. An espagnolette keylock or shoot bolts lock into the guide rails and are typically incorporated in the bottom slat.

Electric Operation (Mandatory on shutters above 25kg): Minimum Shutter Width: 750mm.
Operation: A tubular motor is housed inside the axle.
Power: Draws 240 volts and 0.5 - 2.5 amps, depending on the shutter size.
Safety Features: Complete with integral limit switches and a thermal cut-out to prevent overheating.
Control: Operated by a momentary switch which must be held until the shutter reaches the desired position. Comes with 2 metres of cable for connection.

Installation Requirement: Provision of a 13 amp fused spur is required.

Manual Override: A manual override should be priced and ordered separately for shutters installed on exit doorways to permit operation in the event of a power failure.

Installation

Installation & Fitting Guidance

The SeceuroVision 38 vented shutter is supplied made‑to‑measure with full installation instructions, and can be fitted by a competent tradesperson or experienced DIY installer. For safety and to prevent damage, larger units and any shutter over approximately 2 metres wide should always be handled by at least two people when lifting the barrel and curtain into position.

  • Built-on installation: The shutter is normally supplied as a compact “built-on” unit with box and guides, suitable for either face fixing (onto the wall or shopfront framework) or reveal fixing within the opening. Allow room for the box height and guide rail width when surveying the aperture.
  • Fixing best practice: End plates and guide rails should be fixed into suitable masonry, steel or timber using appropriate heavy-duty fixings, ensuring the box is level and guides are plumb. The bottom slat must run freely within the guides without binding.
  • Electrical models: For electric operation, the tubular motor is pre‑fitted inside the axle; final connection to a 230 V supply via a 13 A fused spur and any control equipment (switch, key switch or remote receiver) must be carried out by a qualified electrician in line with current wiring regulations.
  • Setup and commissioning: After fixing, the curtain travel limits are set on the motor or manual mechanism, and the shutter should be test‑cycled several times to confirm smooth travel, correct stop positions and effective locking.

Samson Doors can provide a full professional survey and installation service for most UK locations, ensuring the SeceuroVision 38 is correctly specified, safely installed and fully compliant for its intended application.
