Are Side Hinged Garage Door Secure?

Generally most side hinged garage doors are secure, but for some peace of mind and higher levels of security we would recommend the double skin steel doorsets we offer.

Like many doors and windows, having just a good or multi point lock isn’t enough and the overall integrity of the door panels, fixing sub frame and the furniture all combine to give security depending on their build quality and specification. If the doors themselves don’t have strength then forced entry is far easier regardless of the locking.

A double skinned steel doorset will have a 40mm thick foam filled constructed pair of door leaves and fitted to an outer box section aluminium frame with large hinges used and a 3 point locking option. The strength and overall integrity is great with these doors as they have astragal overlap seals and very few real points for attack. A proper locking system with hook locking and a deadlock will all hole the doors together firmly to prevent forcing.

Samson Doors can offer hinged steel doorsets for garages with LPS1175 SR1 and SR2 ratings as well as options with PAS24 certification. Please email or call us for latest prices and details.
