Description

Glas-Dor 240 - 4 Hour Fire Doorset

The Glas-Dor 240 represents the pinnacle of transparent fire protection, combining architectural elegance with industrial-grade safety. Designed for environments where visibility cannot be compromised by safety requirements, this fully glazed steel door system offers market-leading fire resistance of up to 240 minutes (4 hours).

Unlike traditional solid steel fire doors that isolate spaces, the Glas-Dor 240 maintains essential sightlines and natural light flow, making it the preferred specification for high-traffic commercial corridors, busy lobbies, and secure institutional zones. The system is manufactured in the UK using precision-engineered steel profiles, ensuring it meets the rigorous demands of modern building regulations without sacrificing aesthetic appeal.

Key Features

  • Extended Fire Protection: Certified for up to 240 minutes of fire integrity (E240), providing maximum evacuation time and asset protection.
  • High-Security Construction: Tested to EN 1627 for burglar resistance (up to RC4) and EN 1522-2 for ballistic resistance.
  • Acoustic Performance: Integrated seals and specialist glazing deliver sound reduction of up to 45dB, ideal for offices and educational settings.
  • Slimline Aesthetics: Narrow steel profiles (available in 30mm, 50mm, and 85mm widths) maximize the glazed area for a sleek, modern look.
  • Versatile Configuration: Available as single or double doorsets, sliding doors, or fixed partition screens to suit any structural opening.

Stainless steel options are also available for environments requiring enhanced corrosion resistance or a specific contemporary aesthetic.

Application

The Glas-Dor 240 provides industry-leading fire protection for commercial and municipal buildings requiring extended fire-rated glazed solutions. This versatile system delivers up to 240 minutes of fire resistance while maintaining visibility and aesthetic appeal.

Commercial Buildings

The Glas-Dor 240 is ideal for high-traffic areas in airports, hospitals, hotels, and shopping centres where fire compartmentation is critical. The fully glazed design allows natural light penetration and visual connectivity while meeting stringent fire safety regulations. It's particularly suited for corridors and main passageways where wayfinding visibility is essential during both normal operations and emergency evacuations.

Institutional Facilities

Educational institutions, prisons, and government buildings benefit from the Glas-Dor 240's combination of fire resistance and security features. The system can be specified with intruder resistance to EN 1627 (RC2 to RC4) and ballistic resistance to EN 1522-2, making it suitable for secure areas requiring enhanced protection. Schools and universities can utilize this system in stairwells and administrative zones where supervision and security monitoring are priorities.

Multi-Purpose Applications

Beyond traditional hinged doorsets, the Glas-Dor 240 system extends to partition walls, window sections, facades, and sliding door configurations. Wall sections can achieve up to 120 minutes of fire integrity and insulation when built to specifications up to 3.3m in height. The system also offers acoustic performance up to 45dB reduction, making it valuable for office environments, sports centres, and entertainment venues where noise control complements fire safety requirements.
